But Scottish Independence isn't directly linked to Brexit as many Scottish voters also voted to stay in the UK but leave the EU, just as many voted to leave the UK AND leave the EU in equal measure. Scottish Independence has been a topic of debate long before brexit. Remember that SNP voters were told that leaving the UK meant leaving the EU and they still opted to vote to leave the UK, so the EU wasn't really their main concern.
The CH4 poll is from 6 months ago. That's nowhere near recent nor does it disprove why so many dissented voices about brexit were in tonight's audience. Things may have changed rapidly in the past month since the announcement of the Brexit Party. Scottish remainers might very well have become incensed at both the SNP and the Tories for failing to honour the result of the referendum. We simply don't know.
If you genuinely believe that the BBC is selectively choosing audiences, why is nothing mentioned when heavily pro-remain audiences are evident? Why watch the program if you believe this is the case?
Saying many voted to leave the UK and the EU and stay in the UK but leave the EU all depends on your definition of “many” - in the grand scheme of Scotland they are split on UK membership but voted comfortably in favour of remain and as you can see from the graphs in the link provided, not a single constituency voted for Brexit in 2016 and only 6 months ago not a single constituency polled for Leave still, anywhere in Scotland. It’s the most pro-Remain country in the UK by a distance.
Things can change in 6 months but when there’s no movement whatsoever in 2 years towards leave in the polling and that the independence vote has gone up since we’ve voted for Brexit, I think it’s a huge stretch to say a random BBC audiences now holds a vast majority of Leavers in it.
The independence vote for me is as ridiculous, if not more than Brexit. The SNP lied during the campaign, just as Remain and Leave did on Brexit (leave lying significantly and crucially much more and actually then cheating).
Whilst they were voting to leave the EU, they were told they’d become members immediately which may or may not have been true.
Scottish independence voters weren’t voting to leave the EU, in their view, whether they were or weren’t - they didn’t believe they were.
The Brexit Party only hold influence with a certain percentage of Brexit voters. They literally have no policy but No Deal Brexit, no manifesto. Just a reptilian atrocity, pocket fascist, going around the country telling people No Deal is the way to go, when he campaigned for a Brexit with a Deal in 2016, whilst lining his pockets more and more (C4 has today found evidence Aaron Banks has been giving him £100,000’s for his private life, including money towards a flat) and with the real risk, what he’s preaching will absolutely decimate the livelihoods of those he’s spouting this garbage of hatred to.
Farage turning up in Scotland and changing their minds is a bit insulting to say the least.
I haven’t watched it for a few weeks now as it’s on too late for getting up for work. I happen to me off tomorrow as I’m finally moving house so can have a semi lie in. Decided to give it a go and was gobsmacked.
I stuck with it because it’s massively important to hear the views of your opposition, it’s why I’m posting to you right now. Will I change your mind on Brexit? Probably not but I’ll learn what your side thinks and we may slightly change each other’s minds to the point of easing up on some elements of our views.
We’ve previously done that and had we both been the deciding parties in Westminster, we’d now have left with Common Market 2.0 and with a view to then leave further based on the next GE results or to rejoin with full membership, should that be the party next voted in.
