The Conservative Party

Sounded clueless on bbc breakfast, asked what his ideas to resolve brexit stand off ws and couldn't give any bar no deal isn't an option, which any sane person knows already

You say that, but Johnson is still pitching no-deal. If he wins on a no-deal pitch then when it (inevitably) isn’t delivered, Mogg and his merry band of disaster capitalists and assorted idiots will soon withdraw support and round round we go
His pitch is comprise, basically don’t try and outdo Farage because it won’t work - His pre-politics CV seems impressive enough

I don’t think he’ll win, by the way

As.I said sane person, Johnson is a fucking lunatic and any person who wants him as PM needs locking up.

The man is being backed by a facist, and a yank at that, has this country sunk so low that we would allow this to happen.

If the general public stand by idle and let this happen then the country deserves to crash and burn.

I can take the shite we get when a tory government is elected fairly and we have to accept the will of the populace, but this is beyond the pale if it happens.

Johnson becoming PM will be a new low for politics in this country.

Rory Stewart sounding very impressive on LBC today. I’m increasingly confident about at least getting a run for my money with him. £5 at 50/1

He has as much chance of leading the Tory party as Corbyn.

What part of grass roots Tory support that voted for brexit and will demand a brexit PM are people not getting?

Stewart was born in Hong Kong, the son of the diplomat Brian Stewart and his wife Sally Elizabeth Acland Nugent. His family live in the listed[6] Broich House near Crieff in Perthshire, Scotland. He was brought up in Malaysia...While a student at Oxford, Stewart was a private tutor to Prince William and Prince Harry during the summer....After graduating, Stewart joined the Foreign Office.[12] He served in the British Embassy in Indonesia from 1997 to 1999, working on issues related to East Timor independence, and was appointed at the age of 26 as the British Representative to Montenegro in the wake of the Kosovo campaign.

What part of his life will he draw upon to relate to the rest of the 99% of the people he will represent?

I'm no May/Tory fan but was just about to say the same thing...weird and a bit worrying that people have forgotten this.
I think that it is just the immediate reaction of some Remainers that have become confident that Brexit is totally dead - but are now just a bit worried that may not be the case.

Leavers, no matter which party they would vote for in a GE, are now a bit more hopeful than they were last week

To be, I wouldn’t want anyone from my High School to be PM. The PM doesn’t need to be a man/women of the people

Working in Kosavo and Iraq seems light work compared to Brexit and at least he hasn’t been fired(twice) for lying like the current favourite

Hopeful of what?

No deal will fuck over us all, I don't give a fuck if we leave anymore, but we need to leave with some kind of plan not this sociopaths jingoistic, I think this is 1899 bollocks.

We are a tiny island that has sold off it's infrastructure and class being an international forve on 50 years ago and ownership some islands dotted across the globe.

We are Italy, we scandinavian nations we are portugal.

Like them we are an old spent empire and now just another nation now just getting by,.
No point trying to be living off past glories in an echo chamber of warped minds (Johnson, moggy etc) that is leading us into an abys of shitness.

He’s on record as saying he doesn’t want a 2nd ref and wants to deliver Brexit

Not a chance in hell and he can say what he likes, grass roots support knows full well he is very much in the the camp that says we would never leave without a deal.

They will demand a PM that will put the possibility of that from a negotiating stance back on the table and that is what we will get.

I did want a GE when brown first came in as he would have won fresh from averting a foot n mouth crisis and it was pre crash
Fair enough, but you, like many/most others that are calling for a GE, would have then and now been motivated entirely by your affiliation to the Labour party and the desire to see them in power - not really out of some 'principled' view (not suggesting that you are not principled)

I bet Chippy is not demanding a GE at this point

Committed Leavers at this point would not want a GE unless another Remainer is elected

No I wanted one so he had a clear mandate from the populace not an anointed one.

I knew he would win though.

And round and round we go. If they go for a no-deal, we will still be here this time next year

It’s time for realism

Amazing that people still don't get it, and I don't just mean on here, I include Stewart and many others.
Why he's even bothering to throw his hat in the ring is baffling.

That is not a realistic outcome. Do you seriously think the first act of the new PM would be to sit on his/her hands for 3 months? Then the 2nd act of what we be a very short lived role, would to be to explain to the country why it has flushed itself down the toilet?

He's been on TV not long ago saying exactly that, which means he's as much chance of being PM as we have
of signing Phil Jones.

Look past brexit for just one second.

This is now about the survival of the Tory party for its membership, grass root support and PLP and they will do whatever it takes to ensure it does survive and if that means a no deal exit from the EU or at least the threat of one to bring the EU back to the table then that is what they will push through.
