Alexandole Boris de Pfeffel Johnson

Going to be a busy time for the courts in the years to come if we are to now bring private prosecutions against politicians for allegedly telling lies.

Prime example of what has happened to our democracy and how the losers are just not prepared to accept losing anymore.

I hope Boris wins and financially ruins the fucking idiot who thinks this case is a good idea.

Maybe someone should summon every MP who is a member of a party that stated at the last election they would implement Brexit by 29th March. They too are a bunch of lying c@nts. :-)

As the guy who is bringing the prosecution had to raise about £400k by crowd funding thats hardly going to happen. However the threat of it happening again - even more so if there is an element of success - will hopefully make all politicians think about the veracity of what they are about to say before they open their mouths.

Good to know that there’s support for the politician’s right to lie without consequence. Very Trumpian.

Trumpian? Is that supposed to be an insult?

Read my opening line again if you can?

Im 48 years old and have lost count of the number of times a politician has lied very publicly and never once has someone deemed it right to bring a prosecution over it until now lol.

Is this our democracy now where every word out of a politicians mouth could possibly end up in a court case because it upset someone or someone didn't like what they said?

Its the perfect example of the damage the losers are doing to our democracy.

Fucking lunacy and as i said, i hope he wins and finishes the twat off financially over it.

Yes I’ve read your first line. It’s just one person bring the prosecution not “we”. Are you saying he shouldn’t be allowed to do it? That’s not very democratic.

When a politician who is in public office is found to have to have blatantly lied, in most cases he is forced to resign. There’s no shortage of examples.

You appear to be saying they should be given a free pass to lie as much as they like without having to answer for them. Or is it just ones that support your side of the argument?

And I know how old you are. You keep telling us.

No it isnt just one person is it given he has crowd funded it.

Its remainers and its a political prosecution.

Can my daughters sue Nick Clegg and the Liberal party for their tuition fees?
Seriously, our democracy is well and truly fucked if Johnson loses this case.

Rather people see through the lies and vote them out at the ballot box eh as we have done for a long time but no, not anymore, the cry babies amongst us think its now a good idea to drag politicians through the courts and whilst they hide behind a claim of a lie, we all know its politically motivated and frankly a bit fucking sinister.

Democracy is indeed fucking dead in this country.

It’s not from the public purse which is what you were implying by saying “we”. Anyone can bring a private prosecution against anyone else if they are prepared to pay for it (or get supporters to raise funds). That’s how the law works and you seem to be saying that certain people should be exempt. If Johnson has done nothing wrong he’ll win the case.

I can see a new campaign slogan following on from Maggie’s “Right to buy”. It will be Boris’s “Right to lie”.

Didn’t realise you were a Remainer. You’ve hidden it well.

We as in citizens of the UK.
As I said, it’s anyone’s democratic right to go to law to initiate a private prosecution. If he wasn’t allowed to do it, democracy really would be dead. If it’s seen as baseless it will quickly get thrown out.

I imagine if he told a lie of this dimension in the private sector in order to seal a contract there would be serious repercussions.

As for all politicians lying. Yes they do. But there is a difference between the sort of nebulous "we´re all in this together" type lie and a specific lie such as Boris´s that can be checked.

Obviously this is politically motivated but that doesn´t affect whether his statement was true or not.
