FIFA Women's WC France 2019

Brazil player goes down with what is obviously a bad injury and her own teammates just carry on playing.
Players probably couldn't tell the difference.

Brazil are the biggest in shithousery although Cameroon came pretty fucking close today.

Its the Law that's the issue not VAR
A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched* by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by:
2. Offside offence
• interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by a team-mate or
• interfering with an opponent by:

• preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision or
• challenging an opponent for the ball or
• clearly attempting to play a ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent or
• making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an or opponent to play the ball

• gaining an advantage by playing the ball or interfering with an opponent when it has:
• rebounded or been deflected off the goalpost, crossbar, match official or an opponent
• been deliberately saved by any opponent

Hmmmmm...looks like a clear OFFSIDE to me, per FIFA laws of the Game, page 96.

That first goal was not valid in my opinion. It was not an indirect kick and too harsh even with the benefit of the doubt. The ref could have been acting in good faith in this case but the number of these unfair calls against smaller teams is just ridiculous.

Yes, it was an indirect free kick but perfectly legit goal as the keeper touched it before it went in. Also, if that was not a pass to the keeper then what was it?

Finally a reasonably good game. Spain v USA. 1-1 so far. Some decent football
USA should have had that player sent off for kicking through our midfielder whilst she was on the ground (she elbowed her down and then kneed her in the face, and I am fairly sure she knew exactly what she was doing)...

But the USA are the Dippers of the women’s game: they always get the benefit of the doubt for their dirty play.
