Just out of interest, how many goals did we concede last season due to lack of height in our defence?

I have said for a few years now, height is no longer a priority for cb at the top level. We will continue to see more mobile , smaller players in this position, because top clubs, do not play with big lumps up front, also as defensive lines get higher, speed is more important.

The mantra, 20 years ago was 3/4 in back four over 6ft, this is not so now.

Is Ake super fast?

If so do you think wearing platforms would slow him down much?

As someone has said previously, when we play them he never looks anything special, and I can't imagine Kun and Co have many sleepless nights when they face him

The exact same surely applies to the more expensive and older Maguire, though...

Seems like he can cover several positions which is helpful. FB, CB, DM. Think he wouldn't mind sitting on the bench too

Disagree, you always you know you have been in a game with Maguire. Strong , Physical player, with Kompany gone we need some muscle in that team.

Rodri is far taller than Fernandinho. He will help with this.
Help with what ?
The question still stands . How many goals did we concede last year with our version of the 7 dwarves playing at the back ?

23, of which only two headers scored may have been preventable by a big fuck off centre back like Maguire.
Cool , thanks. Thought so.
Wouldn’t it just be easier to buy a keeper with bigger hands than Eddie then ?

The reply above is bollocks. We conceded 62 goals, 53 of which were headers due to our back four of Bilbo, Frodo, Samwise and Peregrine Took.

The more and more names like Ake surface as potential alternatives for Maguire, the more I'm warming to the idea of Fern being rotated into that back four. By no means is it my preferred option, although I think he's brilliant. However, in hindsight I think he'd be a much better option than spending 40 Mill on Ake who doesn't appear to have any of the qualities City appear to be looking for or that would improve are back 4 options.
