I’m sure that I recently saw it mentioned that David Silva was to be made captain for his last season?
I’m not even sure where (or maybe even if) I saw this (or dreamt it) but it seems a good notion to me.
Maybe not the loudest player in the squad but certainly a man who commands the utmost respect and who would always lead by good example.

Long term KDB but for the upcoming season it has to be Merlin, really hope this happens ....

If for example Kevin doesn't want it then I can see Pep giving it to Merlin. He'll be the longest serving player at the club, going in to his 10th and possibly last season at City. Would be a nice touch from the club.

Sorry but David has had the armband in the past I've not really seen great leadership from him. He may come back re-vitalised after a summer break but the last quarter of the Season he seemed quiet and ineffective compared to his usual extra ordinary levels. KDB for me.

You don't need long term captains in football, more just need to ensure you have a strong group of leaders on and off the pitch.

This year will be Merl.

If Fern stays beyond next season, I gather it'll be him.

After that, I'd say it'll be KDB with Bernardo and Stones backing up.

My little opnion on that is the captain should be someone who has a positive influence on the squad. A player respected but also capable of motivating the troops when needed.

Basically someone with great leadership. Fernandinho is a great candidate however he is sadly not a long term solution. Perhaps Bernardo or Sterling ?

I don't see him as a leader type, just don't get that vibe from him. Needs to be someone the others look up to and I'm not sure that's Stones.

KDB or Bernardo would be my choices.

He was captain for most of the centurians season so he is clearly good at it

Every time we play a game there's at least 3-4 leaders on the pitch. The team is fully together and if any player appears to be slacking one of them will tell him
