No, we live in the UK, and we're not members of congress.

I don't think you quite understand. The impeachment process is effectively the trial. The evidence is in the Mueller report. There is no legal process that can convict a sitting President hence the need for the impeachment process. Then because that is run by politicians, it makes it a political process.

I think you [purposefully] misunderstand the House intention for impeachment. If the House (moreover Pelosi) gets onboard, then they can lay out the reasons for impeachment before it gets to the Senate. An open investigation, if you will.

That's the target; a revelation to the people of America of proof and facts on their President.

Whether the Senate vote to impeach, is neither here nor there.

So we impeach every President on the basis that maybe he's done something wrong and hope it comes out in a trial? That seems somewhat backwards to this lilly livered liberal Leyther
 
Shows how far down the toilet America has gone when he hadn’t been impeached yet despite the evidence that he tried to subvert the course of justice and yet Clinton had impeachment proceedings against him for lying about a blow job.

Are you taking the piss or do you not understand the whole democracy thing?

1) He can’t have a crime proven against him whilst in office, he can only be impeached whereby the houses assess the evidence against him.

2) The above is exactly how democracy works in the US Constitution.

3) Before you ask why he should be impeached, read Mueller’s actual words on what evidence is there and what potentially impeachable crimes he has committed.

The Damocles of five years ago would have thrown up at the sight of such a terrible straw man.
 
The saddest part of all is that from a partisanship standpoint there are plenty who would vote to convict regardless of evidence at impeachment, and plenty would to vote not to for the same reason. But it's a big enough deal that I guess I understand that. Makes me sad though.

If you read up on Nixon, it became clear through the process post-Watergate hearings and obviously after the smoking gun tape that Senators who were originally playing partisanship games had their eyes opened and simply had to vote their conscience as humans and caretakers of the nation. One could cynically say they were drifting with the populist winds that turned against Nixon but I think it was more than that (including trying to save the Republican party from extinction).

Yeah I know. This one bugs me though. As I said before there is something ghoulish about it.
