And wouldn't that be something.Genuinely think it would be our greatest achievement yet.
We’re going to need a miracle.

I felt like that.Really can see myself falling out of love with the game.
Spot on. Games a bogey mate.
Win the league with 100 perfect VAR approved goals, maybe that's the new dream!? Good/bad decisions always seemed to even out, and that was part of the game! We will tally up VAR decisions as the season goes on, who wants to bet against this, I say we have more against us that cost points than the media darlings combined? Ones in our favour will be pointless game over already ones? We will see. My verdict is in, it ruins the game and is bent as fuckAnd wouldn't that be something.
Would probably still watch on tv, but whats the point in going to games when you can’t even celebrate properly?I felt like that.
Ironic isn't it we had all those years in the wilderness when we won nowt, all we did was laugh and moan a bit.
Now we have the best side the prem has ever seen, and var is dividing us. Who the fuck cares? I couldn't care less I just enjoy the quality on display. Ignore the shite and enjoy the football. We are more than good enough to piss this league
I’d like the thread title changed from debate to debaclePardon my ignorance, but if the ball had slightly grazed the arm of the Tottenham player, and then we scored, would the goal have been disallowed by VAR? That was what KDB seemed to say after the game.
You are probably correct in your prediction, and it is ruining the game as we see it but we are only 2 games into a long season. My point is we are too good a side to let it worry us yet. I'd be more worried if I was managing a side that hadn't won a league title for 30 years. I'm not convinced Klopp is rubbing his hands thinking var will help him win the title.Win the league with 100 perfect VAR approved goals, maybe that's the new dream!? Thanks for clarifying all that. There are now clearly different interpretations for the attacker and defender. You can guarantee that we will get penalty calls denied this season when the defenders have handled the ball with his arm ‘in the natural position’. It’s bizarre when the rules are more generous to the defending team, rather than the attacking team.No because the advantage rule would be applied. In any event it wouldn’t be handball as his hand was not in an unnatural position.
The real injustice lies in the fact that a goal can be disallowed for accidental handball by the attacking team whereas if it doesn’t lead to a goal it still has to be intentional.
Also if the defender accidentally touches the ball on the arm it cannot be a penalty (providing that his arm is in a natural position)
So the attaching team cannot benefit from accidental handball, the defending team can.
Different interpretations of handball now apply depending on whether it’s the defending or attacking team and whether it leads to a goal or not.
If the same thing happened whilst Laporte was on the halfway line and the ref had seen it then no free kick would have been given as it wasn’t intentional.
You could make a case for saying the handball rule needed clarifying in relation to when penalties are given. However this new rule which disallows any goal where there is contact with the arm by the attacking team whether accidental or not, is just change for change’s sake and needs to be reversed ASAP.
Gabby likes this .VAR is shite.
No it’s not fine coz it includes all the cvnts who are in charge of it . So you cannot separate var and the cvnts who handles it. It’s the whole package.VAR is fine. The people behind it and the ones incorporating it are grade A morons.
I totally agree with you. This s..t will kill the beautiful game as we knew it. Some people don’t realize that as long as it is run by humans, who are still incompetent or corrupt, it will not do much to change the current problems, apart from killing the momentum and the flow of the game.
Some people are stubborn and just refuse to get it. VAR is run by humans who could be inept and/or corrupt. Unlike the ref and linemen, they are hiding inside a room, which makes it much easier for them to f**k any team they choose. VAR is the beginning of the end of the beautiful game. It is the hypocrisy of football governing authorities to show they are “modernizing” football to follow American style of sports. American sports; American football, ice hockey, baseball, and basketball, are so dumb boring because of VAR and similar tools used all the time.
Am I missing something here or do these rules state that our goal shouldn't have been ruled out?Deliberate handball remains an offence
• The following ‘handball’ situations, even if accidental, will be a free kick:
• the ball goes into the goal after touching an attacking player’s hand/arm
• a player gains control/possession of the ball after it has touches their hand/arm and then scores, or creates a goal-scoring opportunity
• the ball touches a player’s hand/arm which has made their body unnaturally bigger
• the ball touches a player’s hand/arm when it is above their shoulder (unless the player has deliberately played the ball which then touches their hand/arm)
