In the VAR thread a few Blues are saying that it shows VAR is not biased against us because the Rags did not get a penalty. I made the point that the referee had to spend the whole game looking at diving and cheating by the Rags, as you say he booked the wonderkid for simulation and I think it all worked against them. In the end the ref could not be sure who was being fouled and who was diving so he couldn't give penalties. Serves the bastards right.

No, it shouldn't matter where the foul started. That's why you often see defenders holding until they get into the box and then suddenly let go. As far as I can tell, it's because they determined that the decision to not give a penalty wasn't clearly a mistake by the referee, because it's subjective. The question remains what actually would constitute a decision so obviously wrong that they will overturn the referee's decision, because so far, I don't think they've ever overturned a decision, and all VAR is achieving is to highlight all of the referee's bad decisions even more.

Absolutely - Ashley Young was/is a diving cheat but never got booked for it .
