Rodri - 2019/20 Performances

He's getting better and better - didn't hide and always wanted the ball even when full press was on. Just one of those days where they worked harder for periods in the game. Still should have won but good signs from such a young player.
 
We should use more of Fernandinho + Rodri to increase bite and work rate in away games imo.
 
Rodri is doing fine but he is not currently as good as Fernandinho. Why Fern is now finding himself to be the odd man out is beyond me.

I love Fernandinho as much as anybody. He's a warrior and a City great but perhaps that makes us look at him with rose tinted glasses.
Fernandinho was never this good on the ball. Not even close.
Rodri is simply a top top player and he is ahead of Fernandinho right now. That's why he plays and Fern doesn't.
And for that position it will probably stay that way.
We lost in spite of Rodri. He was the best player on the pitch for me.

He wasn’t involved in our passing because he was just trotting around at three-quarter pace in spaces behind their midfield where he couldn’t be passed to.

Dreadful performance from him for 45 minutes.

He was better second half but needs to cut that half-hearted shit out. Fernandinho never stops running to find space to be passed in!
 
Thought he was our best player today too. Although actually, I just remembered his part in their first goal today, he ought to be our ball winner on corners. It's hard to pick a MOTM today which says it all.

Do you know what Rodri looks like? He was the only player who put in a good performance with great recoveries and even had to put in the initiative to start attacks. All over the place with the highest effort. Not his mistake others in defence decided to have brain farts.

In the second half he did.

First half he wasn’t involved, noticed a number of times where we’re all used to Fernandinho’s passing lane is cut-off by their players, Fern finds that space with the extra efforts. It was noticeable to see Rodri just trotting about when our players were looking for passes... in the first half.

He was much better second half but honestly watch the game back when it’s on the app, I thought his lack of finding space to be passed to was noticeable first half.
