The Conservative Party

I do hope the conference goes ahead, it could be funnier than a Norman Wisdom film.

Danny Finkelstein has finally broken ranks...
Without these things, what is the point of Conservatives and what is the value of Conservatism? Without them, what will Conservatives say when resisting the challenge of socialists and extra-parliamentary protestors?

Brexit means Brexit.
Strong and stable.

I know you don't want to engage with me, but look at post scarcity economic theory

Capitalism is doomed. Marx will be proven right.

He said

"The free development of individualities, and hence not the reduction of necessary labour time so as to posit surplus labour, but rather the general reduction of the necessary labour of society to a minimum, which then corresponds to the artistic, scientific etc. development of the individuals in the time set free, and with the means created, for all of them"
I don't disagree - I've said so many times on this forum.

But it isn't doomed YET. That's the key point. Unless and until we have global alignment, then socialism of the type to which you aspire, cannot work. And we are decades - many decades - from any whiff of a possibility of such global alignment.

The latest is a real gem. Prorogue Parliament, opposition parties get to have their conferences, prorogation illegal Parliament recalled Conservatives unable to have conference because Parliament recalled and not allowed to close for theirs. Wonderful.

They can have their conference but will have to make ministers available in parliament if Bercow decrees. No doubt Bercow and the opposition will have some fun making life difficult for Johnson & co. Which Johnson will be quite happy about as he’ll expect it to give him a further boost in the polls.

For the ‘blue rinses’ and ‘the hang em and flog em brigade’ the Tory conference is the pinnacle- they’ll be gutted. Shame.

It won't be the end of the world because with an election campaign pending there will be plenty of time peddle the bullshit at his rallies. But I am sure a Shearings will be pleased at making a few extra bob with cost of picking up the blue rinsers a few days early.

Not sure where this boost is coming from the moderate flip floppers who parties rely upon will be horrified by what has happened and the polls agree on this

MPs will return to the Commons at 11.30am this morning. It comes as a poll found that 50 per cent of voters agreed with the judges’ decision, while only 29 per cent disagreed.

Unless you're a fully paid member of the hard Brexit death cult putting a positive spin on this is impossible Johnson's government broke the law and the highest court confirmed this unanimously 11-0.

Unfortunately a ridiculously high percentage of the electorate still want a hard brexit. And this sort of stuff just seems to harden their views

Calling people thick, racist, fascist, xenophobic simply will never work, alter opinion and will indeed make them even more determined.

And don't forget the carers ... the ones who stay at home looking after the terminally ill and the disabled ..... ripping the country off for £63.80 (providing the person they are looking after qualifies for enhanced PIP because they are immobile ) a week saving the state a fortune ...

robbing twats .... what do they find to spend it all on

I'm being overpaid it seems.

I'm on £66 a week

Sorry mate I think we must read different newspapers or watch different media outlets or something. But I cannot see any poll above the low 30% and that's out of Brexit voting folk. Maybe you need to check your definition or post a link to demonstrate this theory.

Johnsons busty blonde American friend says he did visit her flat in London a few times but only for "private technology lessons " lol.

Clearly the GLC had nobody suitable in their IT dept?

Johnson is about to find out what real politics is all about over the coming weeks. He may have thought that getting the old band (Vote Leave) would be just the ticket to get this whole Brexit thing over the line. Yesterday was the watershed moment that brought the whole thing crashing down to earth. Cummings isn’t a strategical genius, he’s a one trick one pony that won a referendum against all odds. But elections are a whole different thing the battle lines are very different because Johnson isn’t the under dog that is fighting the establishment he is the establishment with his over privileged upbringing that thinks that he is above the law.
It’s going to be a feisty time in parliament with the tail very much wagging the dog in terms of the opposition deciding what the orders of the day. But who can blame the my only message to Johnson is you play with fire you will almost certainly get burnt

He testing out her equipment and was having trouble with the hard drive, must have been a loose connection because he had to keep taking it in, and out to get things working again.

The whole thing beggars belief doesn't it? This man is way beyond unfit to be a PM - I'd love to see an opinion poll taken in his constituency today after the latest revelations - I expect it would make sombre reading fr Bozo the Clown.

I have said this all along he is marmite, he has a narrow base of supporters similar to Trump who adore him. They could literally photo him but naked hanging out the back of some bird and they wouldn't care, it would be just laughed off as Ho ho hee hee good old Boris, he's such a charmer with ladies. He is turning this country into a laughing stock I don't remember in my lifetime any UK PM where media outlets from other countries have ceremoniously waded in and said he needs to get the boot.

Yes, the support for hard brexit stands at around 33%, which in my view is ridiculously high. It’s the highest single Brexit option. Overall leave v Remain continues to fluctuate around 50/50.

The latest opinium poll had the the tories on 37% and Bxp on 12%. Other polls have the tory / Bxp vote at around 45%. For Johnson to win the next election he needs to take about half of the voters currently supporting the Bxp. He’s lost the rest of the electorate but could probably win an election with 42% of the vote. His biggest problem at the moment is that it seems extremely unlikely that he’ll achieve his Halloween deadline which will make it difficult for him to take votes from Farage, initially he’ll probably lose votes.

But all of the current shenanigans help him because potential Bxp voters will see this as him doing his best and being thwarted by parliament and the courts. There’s no reason for them to believe that Farage would do any better. So, however tempting it might be for parliament to keep kicking Johnson, they’re probably doing him a favour.

But you are missing the obvious option which is remain which as say remains at 50%, but the only realistic way of achieving that would be another referendum. Personally I don't see much changing to the 2017 votes only with Tory losing seats to Farage and Labour to Lib Dem. It's really up with the air where that divide will follow and I don't see the Tories and Brexit mustering enough votes to take it over the line as a government. For me the Farage poll is always a false one he may 12% of the population over all but in terms of seats it comes down to a few seats at best. Brexit party are a European election party, a disrupter a fly in the ointment for the tories, lets be UKIP represents the closest Farage will ever get to Downing Street. The Lib Dems are on the rise of getting back to where they were in 2010 and they will be ultimately the king makers in another hung parliament.

I disagree with you because hanging Johnson out to dry over his do or die will cost him votes along with his behaviour, As has been proven he isn't the messiah in terms of winning an election campaign he is marmite and that doesn't help you win swing voters.
