Just watched it. Gave me a lump in me throat, very emotional flick, Bert very calm and cool, what a hero.

Fucking journos should be mandated to watch it, there's even a scene with the dipper cúnts behaving as expected, that's istoree.

I provided consultancy to the film and in the first draft of it that scene did not have a club name (script had another team completely), but they were aware of the CL welcome and by the time it was properly released the Liverpool word was clear! The magic of film.

We were never referred to as that in those days. As I recall the Pathe News clips referred to us simply as ''Manchester', and our opponents as 'Birmingham'. Also, our Cup Final socks in the film weren't right - the white hoops were too wide. Just interested in what went on in the background from your point of view. Cheers.

i think Gary said that some of the film was adapted and nonfictional for a modern audience to move the film along and bring it to a wider audience, the main story was about the man and not the club, so little things you flag are minor that only true manchester city fans would pick on, but like i said its about bert trautmann the man and its a great film with great acting and i love the john henshaw role as Jack Friar and was played with real feeling, and both the young actors David Kross & Freya Mavor who played the main the roles also held there own and stamped the film with realism 10/10

Watched on DVD. Was a good film that deserved to be more widely seen. Was hard to find in the cinema. Especially when you think of some of the rubbish I've seen recently that filled the schedules. Dad watched City in the 50s and really enjoyed it.

All the football coupons had us as Man City 'cos that was the only thing that would fit in the box but yer right B, it's a contemporary title, even though MANUre have been MANYOO for many a decade!

Yes I had read those earlier comments from Gary and just wondered if he had a bit of a battle on those 2 issues. Particularly the socks - it seems like they had been changed to a style more popular in the 1950's (broad hoops), rather than the actual type worn in the Final. They were quite unusual in those days and it was an iconic kit so I was surprised to see they had been changed in the movie. You are right though, it really is a good film and some very convincing acting by JH & David Kross in particular.

in a song it has to fit ?? so man city or manchester city is ok by our own fans, its when we are referred in the media as city or man city then united are always manchester, funny growing up and listening to the footy on the radio mainly Piccadilly and brian clarke always used to referred us to man city and anybody playing in red and white stripes was stoke he always go it wrong hahahaha, also i remember one person who work as a pundit on the BBC always referred to us a manchester and it was david pleat

so maybe it was old school media reporting that just had us down as both manchester but after the air disaster in 58 united was always manchester united and then man city

Agree I had been waiting for it to be released in fact I think the one show did a piece on it. Than on the day ths film came out went onto my local Vue only to find they weren't showing it. I email the Vue asking why and hot so cock and bull story about so many films being released and they can only show so many !. Like I said earlier only one Vue cinema in kent showed, and the other smaller cinemas in my area didnt show it.

It was on at the Picture House in Ashford (Kent), only on selected days. First showing 5pm Saturday 6th April clashed with Brighton Semi Final. Next showing Tuesday 9th 7.30pm which clashed with Spurs (A) CL. Its as if they didn't want any Kent based blues there, consequently I still havn't seen it. DVD it is then.
