Our marketing team are at it again

This is really poor, amateur & embarrassing. Who at the club can think this is a good idea.

marketing & media is moving very quickly it’s clear some at the club are not moving with the tech or trends.

I wish the club would review the whole City experience.

The fact that we have so many people on here telling us how uninterested they are in Champions League and they can’t be arsed attending this shite, corrupt competition, leaves the club in a position to try to attract other supporters. In a way, I like the naive excitement that tourists bring to Champions League nights. It can actually help the atmosphere.
I’m guessing, in the main, the fans who don’t attend Champions League games are a bit ‘been there, done it’ types so I’m happy if these people can bring some more energy to these games.
As someone who is one of those "CBA with the CL" I agree

But watch those very same people do a U turn should we get to the final or win it.

If Blues are not going to turn up when tickets are cheap then whats the problem of Tourists.
There were quite a few round me last night, yes they might have their phones out but they are very enthusiastic to be there.
So if your not prepared to go don't blame the club for trying to fill the ground.

What’s next, f***ing *City Glee* before Shakhtar Donetsk?

Man City advertise for influencers to showcase 'electrifying atmosphere'

They are generally one of two types:

1. Computer programs designed to mimic human social media activity engaging with designated content.
2. Paid human-managed social media accounts engaging with designated content.

Both are intended to create the appearance of a following, inflating social engagement beyond actual influence. Since social influence is now often associated with online following, this is a tactic used to create the appearance of support and substantiation of a movement of like-minded people.

It is actually nothing new. The concept has been employed for centuries: paying individuals to falsely convey affinity to a movement or idea, with the intention of falsely inflating the importance or support of that subject.

It’s now just much easier to do because approximating a living entity (human being posting on various social media platforms) can now be more easily manufactured, at very low cost, and at very high volume.

A girl i went to school with is a bit of a social media influencer with 70k + followers but her posts usually get less than 500 likes and similar in "views" so i think the majority are fake or paid. TBF she does get a lot of free stuff though and works with some big brands, not bad for a housewife.

It’s already started.

City and City fans getting ridiculed in the press for the above.

As if the club and the fans don’t get enough s*** from the press and opposing fans without the people running the club coming up with more stupid ideas and gimmicks.

Why the f*** don’t the club just let the fans create their own atmosphere?

It’s free, it’s genuine, it comes from the heart, and it saves the club and the fans from further embarrassment.

Pathetic who ever is doing this at the club needs fucking off asap, they clearly don't understand how to relate to citeh fans or Manchester in general. As if anyone wants shit like this at the club.

Maybe a generation gap on here but influencer's do now have a power to change a brand. Look at Mrs Hinch for toiletries and Joe wicks fitness. This is how e-commence is done nowadays.

Faze Clan were at the wolves games are a group of esports youtubers who compete for large volumes of money in tournaments. Their reach is massive with 4m on twitter, and over 7m on youtube. Their sponsors include Wiz.com, FIFA and Nissan. All City sponsors. Plus these guys are always running about in city shirts in their videos. Personally, its not my generation but its business in 2019.

In terms of football, 1 person or a group of people can influence the city brand by attending games or BTS work with the team. This will then get more exposure than many traditional media channels and for a lower overall cost. They could fly in some yank with 1million followers and give him a shirt for the price of a billboard in Manchester city centre! City are playing catch up on fan base and engagment but this is the natural step to close the gap on RM, United, Liverpool, Barca...

Arsenal TV is the obvious top football fan channel currently but usually their means is for comedy value rather than appraisal of the club directly. That being said, looking at their metrics, im sure their reach is to furthest corners of the globe and this would "influence" someone to become an Arsenal fan (buy tickets, shirts)!

Some on here and the media like Paddy power will take the Mick of this but this is normal practice. People and brands make millions this way.

I guess they aren't happy with the genuine, from the heart atmosphere that fans are creating on their own?

No one has created this solution unprompted. Attendances were down for the crap group games, plenty on here are always happy to say they've sacked off the CL games because they hate the competition, so the club has to do something to get attendances up.
