Sky news this morning.

BT have said its £40 Billion easily and that's now, not the future and as we see with all major projects the costs tumble out of control constantly.

£860 Million a year in wages needs to be covered.

This project will not be finished until 2030.

To suggest that Google and Facebook will be happy to pick up a bill like this is laughable and frankly not going too happen.

They will operate from outside of the UK and not a penny will come into our treasury.

So wait, is it 40 billion according to BT or 80 billion according to sky? Or even 20 billion according to bbc, who reckon it would cost an additional 230m a year in maintenance

your deep fears
What about them? I'm not trawling back over pages. If you've a question ask, then ask it.

My deep fears are that the crap we've all had to go through for the past 10 years, we'll have to go through all over again if Labour get in. We've had no growth in wages in real terms for 10 years now, and the very last thing I want as I approach retirement in 7 or 8 years time is for more taxes for which I will see little or no benefit and then another 10 years of shit. Seems like a pretty reasonable, rational fear to me.

So Johnson says on the BBC that he is going to "reverse the Beeching cuts to the railways" for £500m. What's that, he's admitting that a previous Tory government's policy was a sack of shit?? I don't think he'll get too far with £500m either, plenty of the closed lines have been built over in the intervening 50-odd years.

not in the minds of his core vote who want it to be 1952 again - preferably summertime - all day every day

Comment from BT via Skynews.

BT Spokesperson: “It should be a top political priority to super-charge the roll-out of full fibre broadband and 5G right across the UK so we can build the digital economy of the future. Whatever the result of the election, we’d encourage the next Government to work with all parts of the industry to achieve that. It’s a national mission that’s bigger than any one company.

Agree with this. Connectivity is a national necessity.

Just rang BT. No record of the booking. Lying cunts. Rebooked for tomorrow and they ‘understand my frustration’. Absolute pile of fucking wank.

Still, dreading when it gets nationalised and service levels drop to unacceptable levels because they’ve got dominant market power and they’re too large and unwieldy.

I hope that in the run up to the Election that people realise that we could have renationalised British Steel (rather than flog it to the Chinese)
And there you have it. Progressive Labour thinking from the 1960's. Carry on making shit at a loss, pouring endless taxpayers money down the pan.

Arthur Scargill would be proud.

I think its fair enough to say take what BT have to say into consideration and that £40 Billion is just to buy the company in their opinion.

Then put wages in.

Running costs.

The length of the project that will no doubt over run as well.

Openreach at its finest.

Over 9 weeks once with several appointments booked that they kept saying they had no record of.

Its painful.

People hanker back the to good old days when the lead time for getting a phone installed was 3 months and you had to rent the phone because it broke every 3 weeks. Ah yes, nationalised bliss.

So it's 40 billion with £238 million a year to maintain it.
That works out at 42.4 billion over 10 years by my math

Seems this broadband initiative has raised the panic levels to 11 on here :)
What with Labour nationalising Rail, Post, Broadband, water, borrowing £500 billion, paying for educating people
quite happy to pay for it themselves, and a 4 day week, to name just a few, you're going to need Uri Geller for an
accountant.

They have indeed said it.

We all say it.

Did they go on to say that it is such a good idea the government can have them for nothing and that everyone will work for nowt going forwards?

What have Google, facebook and Amazon said about the plan for them to pay for it all?
