The UK government have had to go through significant EU 'scrutiny' to be allowed to award current broadband rollout contracts to BT - what will it be like when we say that we want to simply ignore competition from across Europe and award £80billion to a nationalised company without competition

I do think it's vitally important to ensure internet access is made freely available to the poorest in society (and also those in remote areas) to give them the same opportunities afforded to everyone else. Don't know if nationalising it is the solution, but at least Labour's proposals are bringing the issue to the fore.

I think that there is a lot to learn from the approach taken by Scotland

They have made an absolute commitment to access to superfast broadband by 100% of households.

that has/is causing a massive amount of investment with a big push on fibre rollout and also innovative solutions to the harder to reach' premises.

Nowhere in their thinking would nationalising Openreach figure - they are actually quite switched on about the balance of attracting 'commercial rollout' through private companies and dealing with the expense of addressing the hard to reach locations where the motivations of that commercial rollout might not reach

len have no problem with the poorest or those in remote regions having subsidised or investment in broadband but big companies and Jorgen klopp and Roy Keane can fuck off. They can pay for it as they have done for years already.

There would be immediately no competition in the market in the UK

Total withdrawal of all investment as there would be no commercial morivation

I'm with BT.

Broadband speeds have been over 60mbps for months since they did work on it, and i'm paying for 50mbps. That shows a commitment to provide a quality service in my book.

Says who? I've said Boris is a tosser on many occasions. He and Corbyn are both wankers, but better the wanker with the sensible policies.

With Johnson, in truth, you have no idea what you are voting for. He will change direction in a heartbeat. He also seems to be somewhat reticent to be bound by any actual manifesto. My feeling is he will sell the country down the river without a backwards glance.

Frankly given a choice I'd plump for Corbyn. At least we know what he's going to try to do. I say try, because reality will likely intervene and put a stop to his more outlandish fantasies.
