Bring the Noise

I genuinely can’t believe there’s quite a few posters saying they thought the atmosphere was good yesterday.

I thought it was really flat, and seemingly Pep thought the same going off his reaction and comments.

Fair play to those that did raise it a bit in the second half, but the first half was as quiet as I’ve ever heard it.

where are you in the stadium ?
As for pep with his arms in the air, how do you think fans feel when you go down the tunnel cant be arsed waving to fans to say thanks at away games. It might be quiet round him but certainly isn't SS lower.

Yesterday was very good, a lot of fans joining in spreading over to 116 / 117. Maybe in other areas it was flat but not around 114 & 115. It could be improved with more fans singing plus for longer, but on the whole was good.

Pep just doesn't get us and his comments about the atmosphere after the match were beyond the pale. No matter how many trophies he wins he'll never be loved. He'll be appreciated and respected massively but never loved. Too many snide comments about City's history and interviews bigging up the rags and dippers.

What rubbish. All blues love Pep. He’s the most popular manager I’ve ever known at the club.

Pep looked a bit frustrated and exasperated on the touch line when he was trying to get the fans to sing and to create a better atmosphere. 1st half, TV. Not seen that from him before. That tells us everything about our support at times during the match(es).

Maybe someone could tell him that around the tunnel and dugouts is one of the quietest places in the stadium?

The atmosphere was terrible yesterday.

There was zero passion about the place and it was no surprise to see both Pep and Kev trying to gee up the crowd to get more involved.

It was one of the more surreal atmosphere's this season, the performance merited much more crowd involvement.

It is what it is. Football has moved far beyond whatever it is some people are hoping to rekindle.

The atmosphere inside Maine Road was horrendous the majority of times, outside of a derby game or a visit from Leeds or Liverpool.

which part of the ground are you in?/

im in east stand level 1 and i thought it was pretty good. one of few times this season where I've heard the south stand in full voice. the issue is the colin bell and family stand. i dont even know if people are alive in there.

i had leicester fans saying we were quite good as well on the train home

South Stand level 2.

South Stand level 2.

I don't want to fall out with any blue, but that is a strange thing to say about yesterday being flat... Ok it didn't have the noise I would like as I am mad on creating atmosphere so my levels are high. But the game yesterday was the best for a month or two, some good singing going on.

it would be good to see you at a game at the back of 115, perhaps the sound doesn't travel well so you doubt realise. Let me know if you want to try a game at the back of 115, can get your ticket swapped.

just to reiterate as well, peps comment was not right, maybe with him being near the tunnel it feels flat but does he seriously expect the corporates around him to sing. He is welcome to come into 115 anytime :). I will also tell him how to build a good player - fan bond, has he forgotten what his team did at the end of games at Bayern.

I overlook South Stand level 1 and never really ever hear anything. Perhaps the odd thing and chant when a goal goes in, very rarely at other times.

Certainly nothing audible or sustainable. Which is strange, because I hear the away fans much more.

If anything, I hear more coming from Level 3 South, and even that is normally the odd defiant chant of 'City'.

I have my little lad with me, but I think City fans are a little too precious when it comes to creating an atmosphere. Certain games will always take care of themselves.

Most of the chants and songs that were regularly sung on the Kippax and elsewhere are not fit for modern society, quite rightly, so the songbook is gone for good.

Wembley has 90k in it, the League Cup and FA Cup Finals last year were the worst I have ever known as a showpiece.

Half the crowd aren't City fans, so the answer is plain - gentrification and a demographic that has no knowledge of a football atmosphere.

Everything else is contrived bollocks or people wanting to score acknowledgement points.

In my humble opinion, obviously. The game has gone, long gone.

Really ? He’s more venerated certainly than other managers but I don’t get the sense that he’s loved the same way as Mancini or even Pellers was. His song doesn’t seem to go round the ground like their songs did. It’s hard to describe it but I don’t think fans feel he’s one of us in the same way that we feel the previous incumbents were.

Isn’t it strange how it sounds different to people in different areas?

I thought it was good yesterday. Much better than all games of late. Thought more people were up for it around me than usual and heard SSL1 for long periods.

I sit in 204 and I swear I could hear songs being started in the north stand and spreading through most of the stand. First time I’ve heard that happening outside of really big occasions

The sound doesn’t travel well. Can hardly hear SS1 in SS3. Might be me going a bit deaf but not great. I also stood in SS1 for the Burnley FA cup game and didn’t hear one song from the Burnley fans in SS3. I think going a goal down didn’t help especially after the United loss. Atmosphere was good 2nd half though and the early leavers didn’t leave quite as early

I have the greatest respect for Pep Guardiola but I don’t love him as I did/do Manuel Pellegrini or even Roberto Mancini. They both seemed to understand our ‘bond’ with the club. I’ve said it before in other threads a while ago: Managers come, managers go, players come, players go. The one constant is us, the fans.

I will freely admit that for his first season I didn’t sing ~We’ve got Guardiola~ I sang We’ve got David Silva! Sorry. I was glad though because I think I’ve only once seen Pep acknowledge fans singing his name and that was when he was ‘conducting’ the fans at an away match.
I always sang the Mancini & Mr Pellegrini songs though.

i agree pep is loved by most, but you could argue mancini was just as much
Mancini tore the banner down but Pep has taken us to a much higher level. To say he isn't loved is ridiculous. A few started his song yesterday when it became clear the "Pep and Arteta" bit of the other song was no longer appropriate.
And you'll rarely get a good chant of appreciation at full time as half the fans are in the car park.
