Madrid away

Hope you’re right (well, just down to 15k will do me). The club are normally pretty accurate with their estimations of what points games will usually sell out at though. Is a bit annoying they’re lowering it so gradually mind you.

@prestwichblue I know fans on here give you scores of questions to ask and you can only ask so many but, is it possible to ask the club why they are so slow with this ? People have to book flights and the longer it is left the dearer it is likely to be, it will certainly be harder. The cynic in me says it is done to push people towards getting the official flight but I would hope I am wrong.

I'm not clear what the club's thinking is here. I have made comment at City Matters on other illogical things they've done in this area. There's a big difference between a CL and PL away game, with people needing to make early arrangements to take advantage of cheaper prices. On the other hand, the club has received stick in the past for dropping the criteria too quickly, meaning people on higher points risk losing out if they aren't quick enough or aren't able to log on to the ticket site at the right time.

We've got a Ticketing meeting tomorrow so I'll mention it. Personally I think they've been too cautious with this but then I thought they'd priced the home leg wrong and would struggle to sell it so what do I know?

I booked flights and hotel when the draw was made and only have 6k points. Hopeful - it's an expensive time with (almost certainly) a Wembley trip the following Sunday. Names on tickets is generally a farce - really firm message from the club for Zagreb but no checks at all. No names on tickets last season for Lyon, Hoffenheim and obviously not for Shakhtar! Anyway, as has been said there's always the home end, but probably more expensive. And can't let your hair down.

I am bald so does not matter

I think it will go to pretty low points and possibly general sale. The allocation to Supporters Club Branches have been meagre so I think a big factor is how many tickets go to corporates.
Does anyone know whether the allocations for Europe are the same as for league games played away?

Reading through this and previous forums re the bad experiences many of our supporters have suffered when in Madrid, i think i must have been lucky in the past. I went to both our previous games in the CL there, keeping a low profile with no colours on and arriving at the ground early- im giving this one a miss but confident we can progress over the two legs. Theres a small bar on the ground floor of an apartment block to the rear of where we are in the stadium, its more like a cafe but a few blues were in there before the SF game with no problems that i saw although i joined the queue at the entrance early to gain access. No id was requested from me either game when i was at the entrances. I would advise anyone to avoid walking anywhere near the opposite end of the Bernabeu at any time, its where their 'ultras' are located, apparently they gather early in the bars at that end of the stadium and are known for random assaults. Theres plenty of underground stations near our end of the stadium to get to the city centre if you need, i walked back and went into a few bars there was no trouble but hey, we lost both matches and this time the mood may be different. Good luck if your going and keep safe- best pub i found was 'Taberna de Angel Sierra' in the centre, traditional old pub selling food and guinness, nice crowd no idiots.

With home and away tickets amounting to around £100 minimum points could drop quite low.

I’ve already booked flights and accommodation for this game on the basis of someone I know with 23,000 points sorting me a ticket as done previously. Does anyone believe the idea we will have to present ID matching the name of the ticket holder at the gate? As others have mentioned in the past when City have said this, such checks haven’t happened?
I think you might need to put a tin hat on mate. ;)

I'm just going on the assumption that over the past few seasons as far as I'm aware we've only sold out in two Champs League away fixtures and they were:

Schalke = Germany always a good trip
Spuds = New ground & not far to travel

I know a few that normally go to Euros are swerving it so just an opinion. Was the allocation 3k the last two occasions we've been there, I can't remember?

Erm
Monaco (17), Liverpool (18), Real Madrid (16) and the other team we played in the knockout in 2018 all sold out.

Monaco didn't sell out in the end. We sold out an initial allocation and then got a load more.

I don't see this selling out.
