"Disappointing" attendances

A lot of our Blue Mooners are obsessed with what their non City fans say about our attendances. The same people are probably the same ones who complain about early leavers. And a lot will be non attendees for City games.
Strangely yesterday in my block (308) which was far from full we had less people leaving early than normal! There were a hell of a lot of younger fans on their mobile phones though. I am angry about Pep's comments though. He was asked the usual snide question from the BBC but by answering it as he did he gave it credibility. Having watched the interview I honestly felt that his body language suggested he didn't give a shit about the fans. Is he really so out of touch that he doesn't understand our fanbase is one of the financially poorest in the UK? I actually think a lot of damage has been done with those comments. Most of us expect to be continually trashed by our enemies but not by someone who is supposed to be one of us. It is a comment that would not have been made by Mancini, Pellegrini, or dare I say it Klopp about his own fanbase.

Perhaps that is Pep's way in trying motivating us to get the very best out of the current team?

Diddums has he really upset you that much.Grow a pair.
He is taking the piss, that is unacceptable.

And a crowd of 39k on a Sunday against crap opposition with our 2nd team is very decent.

My balls are fine and dandy, I don't like when one of our own has an unnecessary dig at the people that contribute to his considerable salary.

If Klopp or little Ole had said that about there fans, we would be ripping them a new one!

He shouldn't need a pr department to advise him,if that's what he thinks fuck it , my only gripe is, he's not so quick to attack the media in this way.
YUou honestly think that ?? Fuck, then I seriously doubt you take little interest in his pre match interviews where he gives nothing but great shit answers to most of the tossers. He is subtle in his wording and they can`t understand he is actually taking the piss.

I bet you would never have started a fucking thread about Peps views towards the supporters had this not been brought up by some fucking weirdos called The MEDIA who havn`t got fuck all else to write about.
I will call you a sheep.

So we have thread after thread about shit atmospheres, empty seats, seat counters and how many are left, tourists taking over etc etc etc. Pep calls for a good atmosphere and full house and we all go into meltdown. He wasn’t being disrespectful, he was asking for the same things we all fucking want and that’s a bit of passion on Wednesday night.

It was our manager that started it, he should have treated the question with the contempt it deserved...baaabaaaa

I think there is a disconnect between the “vision” Soriano has for the CFG and what’s right for City. I think as far as City is concerned, certainly at a corporate level, it looks as though complacency is setting in.

I think some at the top think we’ve made it and we’re at the top tier. Except we’re not really, people outside City see us as gatecrashers to the top table. We might be there now but the G14 type clubs will do everything to throw us out.

Everything we do should be to make football accept us as part of the elite, not as £100 match tickets elite, but one of the biggest and best clubs in the world.

We have to permanently change the way journalists treat us, the way other supporters see us, the way players see us, even the way our own supporters see us. We need to be the very best at our own PR, which we most certainly aren’t. One thing the club has to do is to ensure that our support stays with and feels connected to the club.

The club should be working on maximising attendance for league and FA cup, probably through cheaper tickets. They should be working with local transport, the council, whoever, making it easier to get home so more people would be tempted to say the full 90. They should do everything to keep the support that kept the club going through thin and thinner feeling part of the club.

VK wrote is his thesis on ticketing prices, maybe the club should listen to him.
Good post.

The way forward is definitely cheaper tickets, especially when the stadium was nowhere near full yesterday. The club missed a trick in pricing without a doubt. All those mum's dad's and families who chose(probably through being skint) to watch on BBC instead of attending. Had the club priced, say £5 adults and a quid a kid we would have undoubtedly sold out, and many kids would be hooked into wanting to attend live instead of having to watch on TV.

Football is (it already has) becoming too expensive a day out, and the way VAR is right now we will struggle to retain many SC holders. I'm at a crossroads as to whether I'm going to renew next season. Another price hike and my towel will probably get thrown in the ring. Many other blues are either feeling the pinch or disillusioned with how football has become.

The BBC are doing a good job of turning City fans against the best manager we have ever had and the best manager in the world. The agenda is just incredibly transparent when you look at the reporting on this. I can't believe fans would give a shit about the media obsession over attendances one way or the other. The media can't attack the team when they've won 7 trophies out of 8, they can't attack the manager any more because they have tried and failed, they can't attack the club as we are making money hand over fist now, so all that is left is the fans.

I am disappointed in some of you for falling for it.

That said, Pep really does need to start understanding us a bit more than he does now. And he really needs a stock answer to questions about fans. Something like: our fans a great and we appreciate them. We know it's expensive and many of them have money trouble as it is. We are grateful for them spending what little spare cash they have on us.
You are missing the point, they didn't ask him,he offered it up on a plate, they then asked him a follow up question on it,ever since he arrived he has done it,we have no fans,no history blah blah

Did he? I've only seen an edited clip and he appears to be answering a question but his starting point seems to be regarding the upcoming semi-final where, he, not unreasonably, wants plenty of support. I think that was his focus but that's just my interpretation.
Pep started talking bout the crowd and he hopes more people turn up on wed, nothing to do with interviewer,he has been doing that since he got here, why does he keep handing the crowd over to the media knowing what they write about them, thats what is annoying

It's true. We couldn't want for a better Manager but he needs help on the PR front. Makes me cringe the way he builds opposition clubs up and continually downplays us..even if he has a point. Just don't do it there's no need. When we are needed we are there without the reminders.

I haven't seen(heard) Pep's comments Kaz, was it a loaded question?
I recorded it,this is what was said,in the tunnel
