Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

It's not like there are 2 or 3 games left, there are 10 games left it's nigh on impossible to finish the season with those stats on infected players and clubs on lockdown. I have a hunch that if a liverpool player comes out as having the virus he'd get death wish posts on his twitter account.

It needs to be pulled now.

The PL wil not suspend the league until their lawyers confirm how it would impact on the television contracts. I suspect they were hoping the government would make the decision for them yesterday

To be fair Adrian tried to catch it but was only able to get his hand to it as it went past him...

I even doubt next season will actually start in August.

Its wake up time for the authorities. This shit has just got real. 1 in 50 people will die. Let that sink in. That's 1.3 million people in the uk.
And all the premier league are arsed about is whether liverpool get the league.

I won't be going to any games this year or at least until the virus has died out.

Great post.

It is incredible that people are still arsed about football in this situation. People are dead, many more will die and yet some are concentrating on what is "right or wrong" in deciding who should win titles, European places or be relegated.
 
We are told that the expected peak for infection is May/June. If that proves to be the case how on earth can this season be completed ? Unless the league is suspended until July, which would be impractical for the purpose of next season. The only sensible route IMO is to bite the bullet - Either suspend now for a month with the option to cancel completely in the meantime if things don't improve OR cancel now. If the experts are correct, I can't see any way we'll be in a position to resume before summer.
