Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Fuck the league off, same with all football.

It'll still be there next season and the season after that and the season after that.

It's not hyperbole to put off football for the relatively short term for the sake of people's health.

The mind boggles at the amount of greedy cünts within the game.

so thats it its over, they will review in April and realise they cant proceed because the situation will be worse,,so its back to the number one question will they award this seasons title to liverpool 'not that it matters'

they can not award the league to liverpool until mathematically impossible for anyone else

500k people die in the UK every year.
Normal flu takes 17k a year.
All worldwide indications are that other than the elderly and those with pre existing respiratory conditions, it’s not particularly fatal.
The real impact of this isn’t the deaths, but the strain on infrastructure, NHS and the impact of 1 in 5 workers self isolating.
You seem to have forgotten over a million vulnerable people including myself have flu injections that keeps the flu deaths down.
Every vulnerable person is at a massive risk from this virus.
At Christies the other day the Doctor gave her opinion that the virus is much more widespread than the stated official figures.
All large gatherings should be stopped now.
Money is the only factor football seems to consider.
Last nights games should never been aloud to go ahead.
This virus will affect all our lives for the next few years until a workable vaccine is developed.
If the virus starts to mutate people who at present feel safe at the moment may become at risk.

Brian Caldwell, Shrewsbury Town chief executive, on the financial impact of postponements or cancellations: "We’ve got five home games left, you are probably looking at £200,000-£250,000 would be lost by not having the income from not just tickets but bars, hospitality, programming income and everything else that we at this level all rely on.

“It could have a devastating effect on some clubs potentially having that loss of income.”

The above was posted on BBC sport site. If the season gets cancelled and a resumption of sporting events occurs in time for next season then we may be a few clubs light.

4th April - so the next game IF that happened would be the scousers...
I do wonder if it will. 4 weeks ago Italy were just statrting out on the stuff we're getting, 4 weeks laterish they're shutting schools and public gatherings. I cant see how they can start it again in a few weeks time.

Most likely scenario I assum is that they cant say season is over now and three teams get relegated - They would start legal action. They cant say let LFC have the title either because that means there has to be relegations - which means legal action. The only answer surely is to null and void the season and leave everyone where they are, IE no relegation, no titles awarded, its the only logical way I cnan see.

Assuming they start on April 4th means finish June 7th. Euro game is ROME June 12th

lol nobody is going to Italy

If the season gets voided, spread the parachute payments the relegated Premier League club sides usually get across the 3 EFL's.

I think I'm right in saying they still get some sort of payment, don't think it's as high as it use to be though.

Its a wait and see but not much sport will be played around the world over the next month or two at least.

Its difficult to put a time frame on it and China's figures are always rubbery but nationals and overseas born who live and work in the major cities are returning back to work approx 10 weeks after it was initially reported.

Personally I think the premier league is over as such for this season and the virus will peak and trough somewhat but I suspect if the governments do the right things and the people by and large follow medical advice then in England for example all things might be back to normal for the start of next season.

The problem is then more economical and the appropriate stimulus required to keep the maximum number of people in work longer term as a lot of small businesses will be struggling to keep their doors open as such especially those who work in providing a product or service for the consumer.

What should happen is government and the banking reserves guarantee credit in order for bills to be paid and or waive taxes for an agreed period of time for those businesses that are well run and just need support until they can repay the credit.

Money has never been cheaper.

if the US had done this earlier then the Dow would still be around 27k now.

the markets in the equity sphere will take care of themselves despite a massive hit they will return and bounce back quickly once the uncertainty over the duration is clearer.

I don't want to think of sterotypes around Burnley or stoke etc but how is your daughters younger sister not your daughter?

(its very quiet at work and I've been giving this far too much thought and cant figure it out)

Maybe different Fathers?
