The way I see it, titles can't be awarded , top four places can't be allocated, neither can Europa League spots, relegations, promotions, because the clubs losing out would go straight to their lawyers.

The only way to keep this out of the courts is to void the season completely, effectively this season didn't happen, file it under act of god.

Is the only sensible answer. You can’t give one team a trophy without stating the league table as it stands is final. Good luck sorting out top 4 europa relegation and promotion involving 100s of millions of pounds without courts getting involved.

Against one club, Liverpool, as they are the only one with a stake in that scenario. If they start relegating, promoting teams etc. there's going to be 10+ clubs bringing legal action.

Just do what Germany have suggested in the Bundesliga.....void the season no trophy or champions...no relegation start again next season with the same teams with the current top 2 from league 2 promoted increasing the Bundesliga to 22 teams..with 4 going down the following season , would work for the Prem

The only option is to wipe the season from the record books. From a football perspective the only losers are teams who could have been promoted. As far as Uefa qualification goes then all teams entered this year are invited back hopefully next season. Edit: just reread the proposal so can that. However teams in 3-6 in the Championships would sue everyone instead

Who plays in the next CL then? You cant just give it back to City, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool because of last season.

I think they will find a way to play it out, even if it's just a bit of a pisstake with games every 3 days for 3 weeks in late July behind closed doors.

Theres just so many massive landmines around voiding or settling the league as it is that finishing it before the next one makes most sense.

The problem is that apparently the PL don’t have any rules covering this situation. There’s absolutely nothing that says the season should be voided in these circumstances. So that option is just as likely to result in court action as any other.

You can’t even finish it next season without having a transfer ban.

The Premier League is a collective and, as such, there are many who will not give Liverpool anything.

The integrity of the competition is called into question. City would be playing catch up in various comps and postponed games.

What's to stop one of the teams battling for Europe or against relegation saying City's predicament has had an adverse impact on a result.

It is Leeds and West Brom who have most to lose.

Spot on, even if Liverpool were unable to be caught it doesn't change anything.
We can go round in circles but you have covered the eventual outcome.
Delaying it is just to look as though they are doing what's best. Teams in the lower levels will come under financial strain but no more than my wage if we don't get it right.
