Thanks Kaz. That's very worrying. Means this is gunna go on for years rather than months, or until there's a vaccine. Hope you're feeling much better x

A vaccine won’t stop it if it’s still in you but dormant, will it?

Maybe you’d like to volunteer to go and be a teaching assistant, dinner lady/man, office staff and have kids cough and sneeze on you then go home and give it to your mum, dad, grandparent, elderly neighbour etc. Everyone else seems to be given options to be able to avoid getting the virus, except school teachers and medical/nhs staff (who are tested)
Medical and NHS staff aren’t being tested.

It sucks for you guys but at the end of the day schools can close. The first people to be tested should be NHS staff and GPs, then the emergency services and then staff working in stores that HAVE to remain open.

Police officers, paramedics and fire crews are currently attending daily incidents as normal.

Some big rumours circulating stating UK shutdown tonight or tomorrow night - anyone else heard this?

Apparantly leaked from the army

32 more people have died in England after testing positive for coronavirus - taking the total number of UK deaths to 104.

It follows the biggest daily leap in confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the UK after 676 infections were diagnosed in the last 24 hours.

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the UK now stands at 2,626.

Earlier, a third patient in Scotland died after testing positive for COVID-19.

Two people with the virus have died in Wales so far.

So I was supposed to go to Sri Lanka to watch the cricket but once cancelled I never went. Tests at Sri Lanka airport including temperature and a confirmation about where you have travelled etc and if you failed 14 days quarantine .

a couple of mates still went and have now had to get back early as flights being shut down.

so they flew out of Sri Lanka through Dubai hub with all the people trying to get back from all over. He said the flight was full of old people who had been on cruises floating around in the sea until someone would take them into port.

got back to Manchester airport this morning just walked straight through the lot of them , the usual passport check but no questions, no analysis of health or where they have been, no temperature checks. Just all breezed in.

You hear about things like this and you think what’s the fucking point.
My husband works at Manchester airport and has said it’s only in the last week that he’s seen any kind of preventative measures being implemented. Too little too late

There’s a steady stream of bullshit rumours going about, who really knows but it can’t come soon enough

I agree. Police and Army have to be bought in. Especially for supermarkets. Total isolation lock down for 2 weeks for everyone.
Gonna be a big wake up call for those in denial.

All schools in Scotland and Wales are set to close on Friday in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

There is speculation that similar measures could be announced in England over COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson told the Commons during Prime Minister's Questions that further decisions on school closures were "to be taken imminently".

The coronavirus represents an unprecedented economic "emergency" and the Bank of England will do anything it takes - even radical money printing operations - if it needs to, the new governor has said.

In an interview with Sky News, Andrew Bailey, who took over from Mark Carney at the beginning of this week, said "nothing is off the table" and hinted that there could still be radical monetary moves yet to come, insisting: "The Bank of England's not done

Asked whether this included radical measures such as cutting rates to zero, a vast new quantitative easing scheme - a form of money creation - or even printing money to give directly to households, Mr Bailey said: "Everything is on the table that is reasonable, within the policy tool set".

He added: "We have a very large toolkit.

I said about the unknown numbers of untested people Vic, but I do not believe we have 15x as many people infected in the UK compared to Germany, do you? 2x, 3x, 0.5x, 0.3x Yes I could believe any of those stats. But 15x?

And we have to get out of our heads this idea that we will see any time soon a significant proportion - and god help us a majority - infected. That would be an unmitigated disaster with 100k dead in the UK at least. Must Not Happen.
Maybe Germany have far more infected then they've'copped on to?

Yeh just read that they aren't tested. My god! That's terrible. Apparently the gov are about to announce many more tests a day so hopefully they med staff will be being tested from now on. Schools closing by the sounds of it so my earlier rant now not relevant. Mad world atm
