It's the other way around. If that was the case, the paradox is even more striking, not less.

As it stands now they have roughly 1/20th of the numbers of deaths per case that we have. If they have more infected-but-not-on-the-system than we do, their 20x times better survival rates are even more odd.

What are they doing/not doing that we aren't/are? It's a vast difference. FWIW the average age in Germany is higher than that in Italy and much higher than in the UK, so I doubt the demographic differences could account for all (or indeed any) of this. And surely it cannot be better access to treatment, since I think we are managing to treat everyone, at the moment. It's bizarre.

ive heard same,,rumours maybe who knows,but do have a feeling full lockdown is around the corner,,if this is the case we need to be assured gas and electricity services will remain unafected, it will be a case of simply not paying other non esential bills i think

It was a comment under a video of a bloke who was filming (whilst driving!) a load of tanks being transported on the motorway, saying that she’s heard we are going to be on lockdown from Friday and the army are going to enforce this.

First thing I thought was; “what, enforce it with fucking tanks?!”

Seriously mate, how else do you think the army enforces things.
 
The figures just aren't close to being correct.

People are dying without ever being tested for it and thousands are at home feeling like shit but haven't been tested.

It sucks for you guys but at the end of the day schools can close. The first people to be tested should be NHS staff and GPs, then the emergency services and then staff working in stores that HAVE to remain open.

Police officers, paramedics and fire crews are currently attending daily incidents as normal.

Unfortunately, there is a likely reason many NHS staff are not currently being tested. And I want to be clear, I am not saying I condone this at all, as I do think this is problematic for both trust in the response and for long-term health outcomes.

If they test positive they must be isolated and potentially treated (depending on the severity) which will remove those health professionals from the pool managing treatment, further reducing capacity as case volume only increases (including those health professionals ‘switching sides’, which is a big swing). You can see how things might spiral once comprehensive testing begins. Some of this is already going on with health professionals that have been presumptively identified as infected via symptomatic assessment, but is likely a small proportion of those likely actually infected based on continuous exposure.

Of course, that also means many of those health professionals that are infected (but not showing symptoms sufficient for presumptive positive identification) may be contributing to the transmission of the virus to individuals in hospital that were not already infected with the novel coronavirus, including those with comprised immune systems and other high risk underlying conditions.

It’s a horrible situation for all involved with no easy solution.

Well I didn’t think that they’d fire tank shells at me and blow me to smithereens if I decided to go for a walk to get some fresh air during a lockdown.

Are they going to fly over and drop bombs on our houses if we have our windows open n’all?

No but if we're told to enforce order at food stores we'd happily place a bullet through your skull mate,, hope that's clear enough.
