l’d buy an original Fender strat and lock it away.

I'd love to know how the German's are counting their deaths. Are they only counting those that died of the virus that didn't have any other health problems to put the death down to?

What I pick up through media,
we might generally not test post mortem to waste tests.
But critical cases are surely being tested arriving in hospital,
and I see no reason to not trust official figures.

The death counts will not be following strict standards throughout the world anyway, IMO.

There are also examples of counted deaths who were covid+
but didn't have any lung issue at all. Doesn't make much sense, but counts as a covid+ dead person.

Bottom line, we were testing very early in big numbers, we did contact tracing as long as it was possible,
(we still do but it's much more difficult now)
and critical case numbers are still not reaching our ICU capacity,
which will be upped to maybe 50,000 til weekend.
But many say the bottleneck maybe won't be hardware but staff, who are working on more intensity from day to day.

Cases numbers are still rising sharply and will continue to do so.
Shutdown will show if we can cope, otherwise our (good) system will collapse like elsewhere.

Test capacity will be further ramped up, also by using veterinary labs, which have similar test procedures.

But we are also running out of PPE, local doctors are often working unprotected and some had to close due to self isolation.

We are are walking through fog and hope to get through well.

Depends if we arrest them or not.

This not a ****ing game. Peoples' lives are at stake FFS. Lots and lots of them.
I agree. The poster is right though. Too many in this country are not going to do a thing. I unfortunately have had to leave the house the last few days to search for essential baby products that did not arrive with my home delivery of shopping. I’m walking around and if someone coughs (into their hand 100% of the time, the stupid pricks) someone will then joke with them “don’t forget to wash your hands!” And the other goes “haha yeah must remember to do it!” and they laugh it off. The whole thing is a fucking joke to people. Then you have a former WHO director on TV saying London will be Wuhan in under 2 weeks. Several hundred dying every day because there’s no ventilator. This is coming. And the stupid cünts in this country think it’s hilarious and not worth listening to advice.

And what’s going to happen with secondary school kids whose parents are at work? Are they going to stay in or are they going to get together with their mates and doss about? We know the answer. So many in this country are not going to give a shit until someone they love is dying infront of them. Then they’ll realise what they should have done. Only it’s too late then.

This video from inside an Italian hospital might upset you but we need to see it.

There were signs that the number of new cases in Italy were stabilising but they increased today. Their measures are having some effect. We need more encouragement for the health workers.

Surely it must begin to moderate soon. If you look at China curve and the date when Wuhan went into lockdown, the number of new cases starts to fall after about ten days. That was one City though. In Italy we have different regions all at different stages in the epidemic.

People in the UK need to see this to prepare for what we will see here. We need to see Italy recover somewhat so that we know that when it hits here in its full force that the period of suffering will be brief.

Harrowing and heartbreaking, all frontline and back office medical staff are heroes and the health services everywhere must be better financed in the future! no ifs or buts this time!

I'm new, lots have been here years... as a result of being new I just take posters as they are from their posts, not knowing anyone, gives me now an opportunity just to comment on how I find the 'thread' of this thread. My experience of this thread is like that of any other 'forum' threads, lots said by a strong vocal few and that certain posts are given to be more valued than others...no different than anywhere else. It's a difficult job to weed stuff out or say to someone things that may be difficult for them to take on board. It's part of online life. I only joined Bluemoon because of the UEFA stuff, that's another life time away, if it wasn't for people in this forum posting what they' have I wouldn't be half informed as I am. The feelings I get from posters in general are a mirror of what's going on out here...as in anything people will take a point of view, cause agreement or disagreement, there's few views I don't care for, but hey ho that's how it goes. All I will say there's no need for anyone to feel 'protective', the overall conversation is pretty solid, it has inputs from a wide range of people both from home and abroad...which to me commends this thread rather than distracts from it. Carry on with how it's going, if somebody doesn't care for it, then that's their view...they don't have to participate...I'll shurrup.
Haha good to hear from you mate, I'll back the point about using paragraphs though!

This is the worse thread on the internet.
I'm on loads of different sites covering various topics.
NONE are as paranoid and doom mongering than this one.
Some people need to take a break reading/posting for a few days.
For your own metal health as well as others...

About ten (or maybe 20) years from now some clever lad or lass at university will do their research thesis on "Comparative levels of anxiety in British football forums about the coronavirus outbreak of 2020-21." (And perhaps relate it to the gloom & doom about their team's footballing fortunes.)
City will be at the top.
Who else will be in the top ten?
Someone like Fulham or Raith Rovers fans might have a more relaxed rating.

Glad I don't live in Shetland.

Apparently Kensington and Chelsea tops the list in England (34.7) followed by Westminster. An indicator of how easy it is to get a test?

Could be the case at times. I am not sure if it is with @Indaparkside — he would have to say. But it is something I can pass on to Ric to see if it makes sense.

It is difficult, as I do try to do most of my moderation via engagement rather than formal action, so I don’t want to lose that route with a special heading that makes one of my posts seem more serious than it actually usually is, if that makes any sense.

And thanks, mate — I’ll assume “special” is a good thing (though Inda and a few others would likely disagree). ;-)

Inda — to avoid further monopolising the thread, I am happy to discuss your concerns via PM if you feel that would be helpful.

I was not being rude m8 just I feel some posters are apprehensive of what they post as their worried about the reply’s they receive on here. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and I try and see things from every angle, think people are unsure what to post as the advice we are getting on tv changes hourly

Analysts who have used modelling to determine the Covid-19 spread advise that the initial UK governments response to this virus would have resulted in 250,000 deaths in the UK using the herd mentality, but their change in stance this week and with further tougher measures as a country we can reduce this to 20,000 deaths. This is also largely dependent on how the public follow the advice given. So we are likely to see deaths in the region of 20,000 and 250,000 in the UK.

The peak is also determined to be not in May of this year but November/December when the virus returns after a dip this summer.

News of a vaccine being available soon, is not one that necessarily will work, but merely can be tested. There are no guarantees it will succeed in killing off this virus.

vaccines don’t kill off anything...

My wife is a teacher in a deprived area, so she will need to go in, half the kids get their main meal there.

What happens then to teachers who have kids?

What is the point of me putting my family on a self-imposed lockdown, when the wife is still coming in every night from a school.

These measures are half-baked.

The biggest employer in this country is the NHS.

Coupled with so many deprived kids in schools, plenty will still be open in this country.

I am a school Site manager
He said the UK schools will be shutting, the only caveat is that emergency workers children will still go to school.

and so teachers and support staff will be in .I am a school site manager so I will be in

That’s completely fair, mate. I don’t want to give the impression I am trying to stop general discussion and expression of opinion. I was only responding to what I thought was a post that wasn’t far off a wind up, which isn’t especially helpful, and offer guidance for how they could better influence the direction of discussion in the thread (to make it less “paranoid and doom mongering”, as they said). And point out that we have other threads focused on only specific advice for coping with this crisis, as well as only positive news and opinions for the COVID-19 situation, which seemed to be what they were looking for. I also wanted to share that I am on other forums, as well, most nothing to do with football, and they are not far off this one with the varying stances and opinions.

Everyone is doing their best right now, but many our understandably struggling and want to come in to this and the other threads to find companionship and sense of community, and I didn’t feel that post was meant to encourage that at all.

@Indaparkside I'd say that's a fair response?
