COVID-19 — Coronavirus

I'm sorry to lower the tone in a very grave situation.

I've not seen it raised or questioned anywhere?

Is it still safe to have sex with my wife?

We have gone a couple weeks now and...

As long as one of you wears a surgical mask and rubber gloves it will be okay. Maybe that's what your missus does anyway, so possibly no change to the routine. :)

Not sure if I have crossed the line of going OTT. Just some of the things I do:
  • When I return home, I wash my hands before touching anything
  • I don't pick up the post from the floor until a few hours after it has been delivered. I then open it, take out the contents (usually bin it) and then wash my hands
  • Clean all food pack packaging as soon as it comes into the house with a Cif wipe (fruit and veg is washed in warm water)
Earlier, on my way to pick up little un from school, I walked past a bloke, from behind, who was coughing and deciding to gob on the path. I looked at him as he walked past. He looked like death warmed up. I held my breath as I walked past.

I blame being in London for raising my levels of paranoia about this disease.

Today, we just found out that the parents of one of my daughter's best friends at school, came down with symptoms last night. The girl has been at school all week. Fuming with the missus as she disagreed with me pulling my little girl out of school on Monday.

Have they announced the new figures for confirmed cases today.
As of 9am on 20 March 2020, 66,976 people have been tested in the UK, of which 62,993 were confirmed negative and 3,983 were confirmed positive.

Worldometers says that's an increase of 714 but how useful are the confirmed case numbers now?

We need to compare the no. of new cases against the previous no. to see if it' accelerating but the trouble is the UK data is questionable given their testing. They are ramping up testing so they say, so it's not a clear picture at all.

The Spanish new cases went down today, whilst the Italians went up but making sense of it is very difficult. It would help if the BBC or media actually covered the epidemic but they seem to have forgotten about that for the moment.

How are we supposed to know if the epidemic is getting worse or better. Is it's transmission rate slowing? It's difficult to say because of the way they present their data. PHE will know. The public can only get an impression.

The number of people who have died in the UK after contracting coronavirus has risen to 177 after England saw 39 more deaths - the biggest rise in a day.

It comes after a third person - a 71-year-old with underlying health conditions - died in Wales after contracting COVID-19, according to authorities there on Friday morning.

Northern Ireland also confirmed testing there had resulted in nine new positive cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Northern Ireland to 86.

As of 9am on Friday, 3,983 had tested positive for COVID-19 across the country.

Thanks Karen.

So another big jump in positive cases as well.

So from what I managed to understand by reading on here, they dumped some big money on you guys. I assume they'll have no problems ordering masks, swabs and medical stuff then, that's good. Did they introduce new distancing/safety rules?
This Italy update time sends me to full depression mode each day.
Try to avoid listening to/reading it then, and I'm only half-joking. It's not your job or duty. Once you've become aware of the severity of the general situation and you've begun to act accordingly, there's no need to actively seek out sources of stress and worry. I know most of these reports are unavoidable but spare yourself all the unnecessary media terror-circus of these days. It's only useful to watch for the unworried cunts still out there, not for you. Ako nemamo novca za sahranu, ostat ćemo živi ;)
I hate pizza, overpriced shite.
U wot?!
Tbf I'd probably dislike English pizza too. We don't have Dominos here so I never tried it.
Would you like to discuss this with me at the Summerbee bar after a game mate.
PM me and we'll arrange a meeting.
You'll have to wait some time for that mate.

In reality cases and deaths outside London have fallen. London has gone up though and is still on track for Lombary levels.
As a result though overall, statistically, new cases and deaths have platoed.
20/03 714 new cases and 33 more deaths
19/03 643 new cases and 40 more deaths
18/03 676 new cases and 33 more deaths
17/03 407 new cases and 16 more deaths

We certainly dont need a curfew outside London, but in London, that's probably a different story.

What do you mean by curfew?

Italy have locked down further if that’s even possible - does this indicate they are still getting transmissions during lockdown

Italy is taking even tougher measures; closing all parks and telling people they can only exercise around their homes, Reuters reports. The country’s health minister has said Italians “must do more” to contain the outbreak.

New cases currently represent about 8% of the total as new cases currently reflects:
1. People who have it, but contacted 111 or 999 due to serious breathing problems.
2. People who have reported symptoms AND are high risk patients who need a test and need to be reviewed by a doctor.

Just gone past The Fox pub in Flixton and it’s packed! Apart from Christmas, I don’t think I’ve seen it so busy.

Time to start taking names now because when it's over people need to know, same goes for any shop that starts hiking prices or firm that tries to play the system at this time of crisis.
They can only self isolate for so long on full pay without medical exemption no need to go full Gestapo :)

In fact it seems Spain's restrictions have been tighter. We are certainly not allowed to go out jogging or walk around parks.

I've been out for approximately 3 hours since lockdown. And that was to the supermarket.

I can’t find the article now but it was saying that the younger people in their population have not been socially distancing or even isolating if they have it.

But here people of all ages are not socially distancing. People of all ages don’t seem to give a shit here, not just the young who don’t know any better.

If anything, and i say this purely from my own experience and what ive seen, it is the younger that are social distancing while mote of the older refuse to. it is not judgement, judt an observation.

I shave my own head.

It’s so liberating and I recommend to anyone.
Top man! I’ve been doing it for about four years now. I have a full head of hair if I grew it out but it’s getting a bit grey around the temple now and I also can’t be arsed with a hair style
