Quite scary numbers when you consider that we're only testing people deemed severe enough to be hospitalised. That means a further 2000 serious cases today, and we're only getting going :(

Regards air freight, there will be much more air freight capacity than manufacturing capacity, so that's not really a problem. The bottlenecks will be the latency in setting up the production lines and then the line capacities. We'll be able to fly them over as fast as they can make them.

I think they've got the whole ventilator thing wrong, unfortunately. They should not be looking for people to develop new ones. They should be sharing existing, proven designs with companies that can manufacture the parts and send those parts to other compaies that can assemble them.

It’s confusing the way that is presented but the Guardian has tried to explain it if you look on their live UK blog. Today’s figures are for more than 24 hours and include some that were excluded from yesterday’s very low figures. Add the two together and divide by two. Tomorrow onwards will be back to straight 24 hour figures.

Think the consortium announced today are building a current design under licence its just Dyson who are developing an unlicensed product.

This is a 24hr period. This is from the official government department of health and in the thread it tells you it's from a 24hr period.

Edit: I would guess the 36hr period was from Tues when the deaths were 87.

the new infections were higher as per the Reuter’s article I posted half an hour or so back confirms

Sorry, I was making a general observation on the topic and probably shouldn’t have quoted you, have edited it. Think JohnMC made the point better than me a couple of posts later too.

We are nowhere near the peak yet,they reckon in the next 2-4 it will hit us,the idiots from last weekend will have added to it
