The close down of the services industry would have freed a huge amount up though.

They thought they'd sit tight and infect the herd. What they should have been doing was develop a testing strategy on the lines of South Korea as advised by the WHO. We can't test our own healthworkers, and we're criticising China?

Up till January 22nd the Chinese were still insisting to international bodies that there was no indication of human to human transmission, they already strongly suspected with cases it was H2H on the 1st December as no contact with wet markets on cases they were seeing in hospital.

Surely you can see that this misinformation (polite word for lie) played an significant role in the West’s policy to this.

Germany changed strategy. German press have seen a strategic document that suggests that Germany intends to test their way out of it. They've left it very late in the day.

In some ways i am much better,this cough and breathless on exertion is apparantly quite normal,it is not like the not being able to breath at the peak of it,there is of course my general health making recovery difficult
The evidence from china is a bit concerning about lung damage when you have had it bad,i will just have to wait and see,it is not a month yet even if it feels like it,i have to go to the drs when the inhalers need replacing in a week or so as i am new on them so i will have a full review of my breathing then,thanks though

They are possibly on good terms, however I don't think the USA was on a war footing re corona until they started to see it in their cities. Now they are moving. I doubt the USA will be prepared to take defeat and stasis like the UK government. That wont be an option for them.

UK tests completed 127,737 and 19,522 tested positive. So about 1 in 6 tests returned positive.

From my understanding the tests are being carried out at hospitals to check if people have the virus. And more latterly on NHS staff exhibiting symptoms. So are these people being tested 'walkins' and showing no distress?

People are, in their own home, being visited by ambulance and paramedics in obvious distress and being told unofficialy that they have the virus but aren't sick enough to be taken to hospital for treatment. Basically " if your breathing deteriorates call us back but yes you have the virus".

Rambling a bit as beer o'clock has started earlier than usual today but I just don't get it. Why such a poor hit rate if only very,very poorly people are being tested in hospitals?

I don't think the UK government has any intention of suppressing this virus hence minimal testing and a half-hearted lockdown. They are planning on shielding the vulnerable and using healthworkers for 6 months at least to syphon the herd through mass infection.
