It took over three months to reach the first 100 00 confirmed cases, and only 12 days to reach the next 100 000, 4 days for the next 100 000 and then 2 days for the 4th, currently about 75 000 cases a day.

It's not an unverified number. It's in the list today. It's still a number that will send shockwaves even if for a different reason.

fair enough and I apologies on that part. Just get bit frustrated with the hysteria by some without checking if it’s true or not.
Not specifically on those numbers but previous twitter links and other unverified website stories.
The situation is as bad as it can get, but some posts do not help the cause that’s all.
Only talking about small minority of posts - otherwise, it’s a very interesting and informative thread.

Still no personal donation from the queen to try and save her subjects lives. A few million please liz.
 
Looks as if the next knock-on effect will be rubbish piling up.

Councils are urging people to store their rubbish from spring cleaning or decluttering homes and gardens because they will struggle to cope with the “wave of waste” expected from households in lockdown.

Many councils have cancelled collections of bulky, garden and food waste and told people to put recycling in black bags for incineration. A shortage of staff due to people self-isolating has left some councils unable to find enough crew for bin lorries.

Hundreds of council tips have closed and there has been a sharp rise in fly-tipping.
