Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

The Premier League meeting has ended with clubs confirming their desire to complete the season. The Premier League will reportedly present their plan to the Government for approval on Friday. They are aiming for a May 18 training return and June 8 season restart. [

Utter fucking bollocks, hope the players refuse

Not to mention the government

The season could be completed with skeleton squads due to players refusing to fly back to the UK , home advantage will be totally ignored and this is supposed to keep the integrity of the Premier league , what a load of bollocks its so the Premier league can keep the £750m and get the Dippers over the line and the additional money this will bring.
The Premier league is a self serving orgainisation with not a care in the world apart from £££££££ , a Dipper title win will be an insignificance and mocked all over the world , a football club handed a title because they were the most likely to launch an orchestrated smear campaign against the PL and threatened to throw their toys out of the pram at every available opportunity. comedy gold.

Pardon me, mate, but I had to make a small amendment to your post :)

I agree with Karen7, this is feels like being stabbed in the back. I hope our club has voted against these stupid measures. The only reason the Premier League want this is to get Livarpool over the line to win the Premier League title and that is all it is about.

It's not in truth though is it? If that was the case the other 19 would be against it and the league would be cancelled. It is all about money and they're all as bad as each other and City are right up there when it comes to greed. Hence still trying to squeeze a price increase on season tickets every year when it's such a small part of a big clubs income these days. They've not even bothered to communicate with the fans over refunds since all this blew up.

Why is anyone surprised! This is all about greedy people minimising their loss on a gamble they felt could never fail. That gamble was the theft of our national game and local club from its very lifeblood, its fans.

This idea of playing behind closed doors on neutral venues, to see out some skewed finish is about nothing more than money and is not to the benefit fans. I have huge sympathy for Liverpool fans because, irrespective of what many may think, the vast majority are hardcore football supporters who under this nonsense idea are now faced with being unable to witness in person nor celebrate their 1st Premier League properly. Imagine if that was us? We too would be in a ridiculous situation where, despite police or medical advice to the contrary, thousands would travel to celebrate, ultimately risking innocent lives, and all because the money men want their cash without giving a 2nd thought for the supporters.

Let this be a lesson to you all, in short you are nothing more than a convenient, colourful and noisy backdrop to assist the sale of their 'Premier League Production', and if needs be you can be dropped like a stone.
100% agree , games been stolen off us .
So from my first game as a nipper at Maine rd in 1969 my whole life has revolved round City , ups downs, i’ve Loved every minute , made great friends & had some great trips . Now the whole greed makes me sick , with VAR corrupting the game I once loved this latest saga has extinguished the last flicker of hope I had of following my team again . I’ve been to my last game , uefa , fa , premier league you can stick your bastardised, corrupt version of a once beautifull game.

Be nice if Boris mentions the PL in a 5p.m briefing, "It's something we're looking at, be good for the nation" then over to Chris Whittey.

"Absolutely no fuckin chance, it's a non starter"

boris wanted it back not long ago, let's see if being a patient has changed his mind and made him more realistic and sensible about it

I never saw that quote tbh. How did he word it? If he said he wants it back when it’s safe to return then that’s fair enough - and I’m sure we’d all agree - and different to saying he wants it back before it’s safe.

I would add that I’m surprised with the approach in Germany. It seems they want to be back playing even before us, yet the infection rate has gone up to back over 1 in the past few days. Reckless thinking coming from a country I expected better of.

As I have said before the players have now got to come out and say that we will not play until it is 100% safe. Where is Gordon Taylor in all of this. As head of the PFA does he not care at all about the welfare any off his professional players, with him keeping very quite about all of this. To me it looks like he doesn't care one iota. They all can go away and play and leave me alone. come on Gordon come out and be and be a MAN, "COMEOUT AND SAY THAT THE PLAYERS WILL NOT BE PLAYING UNTIL IT IS 100% SAFE TO DO SO".

So players may have to be come serious ill, just to satisfy the bosses at both the Premier League and the FA. This is just to get Livarpool over the line to win the Premier League. The problem with all of this is that 1 player may have the Covid19 virus and not be showing any symptoms. As it could take anywhere from 2 to14 days to show signs of the Covid19 virus. The whole 1st team squad could have the virus and not know anything until the symptoms show. If that should happen, then all of that teams games will have to be postponed until they have all recovered. They also may have passed it on to who knows how many other teams before they showed symptoms.

The hotel where any team are staying, if they came down with Covid19 would have to be closed for a deep clean and who is going to pay for that to happen. That hotel would lose an awful amount of money and who is go to cover that cost.

Is there a way to send over questions for the daily briefing?

I want to know why I can't take my daughter to the park, visit my family or get or go for a pint but they are OK with 250+ people in a stadium

if you go to the gov Covid website you can put your question on there

The fact that the Etihad is being touted as one of the venues implies to me that we're at the heart of the discussions. Disappointing unless there is a quid pro quo somewhere along the line.
Smells of bollocks mate, we've no grass & have the NHS in the ground plus a testing station...there's no way our place will be usable, imagine the outcry, mind you they'd spin it as our fault so pert there is truth in the statement.

I think the news about Germany was false, one of their ministers said yesterday it was stable at about 0.75, and their new cases is very small, 322 yesterday.
