COVID-19 — Coronavirus

4 months is a long time, there are some people in my work who are still off whilst others are back and some have had no time off, work is getting busier too.

It's going to cause some resentment if some employees are kept off for 6 months whilst others have had to work. 6 month holiday on full pay for some which isn't fair.
That's happening at my place too. The most vulnerable have been at home, from the start of the lockdown, on full pay. Some are now working from home now, as far as its possible anyway, but I've spoken to a few on the phone and they are going stir crazy. Most actually want to be back in the office asap. I know their other concern is that coming back into work after months will be pretty daunting as the situation changes almost daily because of emergency legislation and only by actually being there on a daily basis, talking to managers and colleagues etc, do you actually feel confident that you are keeping abreast of it all. I was off for 2 weeks at the beginning and the job had changed immeasurably on my return.

Hancock is a pompous arrogant prick.
Since when is a holiday that we have saved up for classed as "lavish", may be for him and his out of touch colleagues.
Just as we are starting to think things will improve miserable Hancock brings everyone down.

I am on my lunch break now. I read the news report and I see that Denmark's epidemiologist has gone on record as saying that he thinks it's unlikely that Denmark will see a second wave given the testing and tracing system they have in place. And yet the UK say our virus is decaying with a half-life of a fortnight. What do we do? Instead of killing it off, we start to lift the lockdown. These may seem irrelevant disconnected facts but implicit in these facts is that a UK belief that a second wave is a risk. This to me is the question of the moment. How do you address it? I don't see how you can. I think it's an act of faith, and therefore I prefer the belts and braces UK approach.
Certainly the UK sees the possibility of a 2nd wave as real enough and no doubt has prepared its armed forces and emergency forces for such an outcome.

As just a citizen now is the time to think selfishly and prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
Self isolate if you can and make sure you wear, mask gloves etc. wherever you are except in your own isolated home.
Those without PPE risk not only their life but yours as well.

I'm sure the various scientific experiments being carried out on the global population are worthwhile but gambling with my life ( not all deaths happen to the old and vulnerable) is something I prefer to withdraw from.

Be alert and fight CV for yourself and family not to win a death lottery that you have no choice in entering.

Rant over.

I’m working from home and dreading the day I have to get a train into London and sit in the office all day, my mentality has totally changed.
I'm dreading the day when the general public en masse get back on board. It has been a peaceful delight driving almost empty trains everywhere and on time too!

Thought for a while the reason why ,in Scotland, over the last 3 weeks hospitalisations have dropped about 20% while ICU have dropped over 60%, was maybe using the spare capacity to hospitalise sooner and the earlier intervention preventing deterioration to ICU. Seems it could be the case.

“1,618 patients are in hospital with a suspected or confirmed case (up 165), with 81 being treated in intensive care (up one).

She explains the increase of people in hospital is entirely in suspected cases, while there has been a drop in confirmed cases of people in hospital with Covid-19.“
I don't think there is much evidence that patients are being admitted earlier and ITU being prevented though it's possible.
There is more extensive testing of patients being admitted for other reasons and being tested for covid and it coming up positive.
ITU has a long tail of patients being ventilated for a long period of time.

Well quite. But if the trains that are running are packed then TfL needs to sort out it's timetable.

The government just needs to introduce laws governing the amount of people allowed on a carriage/bus like other countries have done instead if leaving it up to tfl or tfgm etc.

I think a lot of companies will move away from offices unless its 100% needed.
I wonder if people will continue to stay in a state of ¨emergency¨ even if a vaccine etc is found, ie continue to live a bit more frugally, not be concerned with new car, holidays etc and may have discovered they can get by without some of life¨s additionalities. Or maybe we will just revert to type and all go back to traffic jams, offices, unused gym membership.

Never been too bothered about cars, but holidays and travel I can’t wait to get back to. If anything It’s made me realise how short and fragile life can be. Don’t know how many more trips round the sun I have but am determined to make as much as I can out of them.

Scoffield asked hancock how he has to pick between a parent but he can have his cleaner round?

A.Meeting outside is better than inside

(Cleaners don't clean the garden do they)

A.Anyway you can see parents just one at a time, but seeing as you have to go through the house to get to the garden you can't do it at the house

Clear as mud

Also the evidence on facemask is weak but wear them in confined spaces

Social distancing not working on the tube, people can't walk /cycle to work?

A.Time to try to walk and cycle

Don't go on transport but we are increasing the spaces on it,cue pic of the packed trains

PPE?

A.figures shown frontline staff are not dying any more than people of same age /sex (that is ok then) so proof they have PPE (shithouse)

Also saying he is hopefully of a vaccine by Autumn when wh itty says we might never have one and all the experts say the same or next year at the very earliest

Do they attend the same meetings
