pretty much back to normal hey,,cant fly, long lines outside shops, football with no crowds all with a killer virus thats not gone away

by ‘July/August’ I stated.

Most airlines are resuming soon.
Football returning already when most said it wouldn’t, no crowds for now but in a couple months ?
Long line outside shops - might be the case now but again in 2 months ?

the speed of returning to normality indicates it’s likely we’re gonna be pretty much back to normal in July/August - not sure why that’s controversial.

It’s controversial because it’s plainly not true. Unless you think a world with social distancing and a deadly virus with no immunity is being back to normality, which would be a bit weird to think in my opinion. Whitty has already said we need to have social distancing in place until the end of the year at the very earliest, so realistically a fair way into 2021. “Back to normal” can’t exist until social distancing is not a thing and until we’ve been vaccinated or attained herd immunity. There can be a ‘new’ normal but you are talking about going “back” to normality, ie our old normal. Which won’t be this year never mind this July.

fair enough , get the social distancing might be around for a long time, just making the point that huge progress has been made in these last few weeks - and from Monday, schools back open, allowed to see mates and family in Garden and loads of other restrictions have been eased.
Another 2 months could rapidly change for the better and in which case I believe to some extent the ‘old’ norm may be back.

but I’m definitely not ruling out a second wave or ripples which can halt all this.

Yes but you're still supposed to keep 2m apart when mixing households, I'm certainly going to continue, so its normal is it ?
Seems to me the unspoken rule or guide is that as long as you both wear a mask the 2 metre rule can be reduced to 1 metre because your mask protects others.

The ramping up of testing could only have been done sooner, given the UK civil/health service arrogance in ignoring far east lessons from SARS (2003) and MERS (2015), is if PHE had used university labs to do testing, like Poetugal.
PHE kept everything in house and therefore done by the state and refused help that was offered from UK universities. For the life of me I don't understand why a Tory government would do this.

Portugal's trsting experience:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-...ovid-19-test-rate-double-almost-every-nation/
It also had testing in nursing homes as quickly as its centralised health system.
Surely this decision was effective in saving many lives in the over 80s vulnerable population?
UK deaths of of over 80s form about 50 percent of total deaths.

good send off for the key worker clap tonight , except for some stupid women showing off her new dog and walking up and down the road, dickhead

We were supposed to go on a Tales By The Riverbank picnic today but sadly was still engaged with per-contracted work for the pan lids. So last night we went tripping on the Tesco whoopsie aisle where were we engaged a pack of two custards for 30p, some caramel scones for 20p and some Sheldon's Teacakes at 25p so moved stealthily in for the kill. Within seconds a two pronged attack by a gaggle of selfish hyena hustled in on our prey and I had to loudly say keep your distance as I don't wanna die for a brace of custard pie. When we returned home the daily news said Boris was considering reducing the distance down to a metre if Sage would is in agreeance as 2 metres would be difficult to keep the upcoming shop and pub trade flowing. Well we will not be going into those pubs or shops at no scantily clad metre and will continue to fully mask up, swerving our way through a high street near you. Make your own decisions based on sense and sensibility and all will be well. One metre my arse !

Only this:

If everything goes to plan they should be the case, subject to trying to comply with social distancing.

We are relying on cases and deaths continuing to diminish, fingers crossed.

Has Rishi Sunak extended the self-employment support scheme yet? Or are the self employed being thrown under the bus on Monday? (More than they already have been.)

you are joking right?

You seriously think they want the death figures to spike again after crippling the economy and paying half the nation 2.5k a month? If they are getting stick now imagine it then.

With all respect a paramedic isn't going to have any inside info to the governments strategy, it's just their opinion.

I haven't looked at Twitter today. I would imagine if this was discussed, there would be some serious mental gymnastics being performed by the far right.

Just out of curiosity, why do you do that weird capital / non-capital writing? Seen you do it a few times and can't figure it out.

So can we meet family living in different houses from next week.or just friends?
Hard to keep up with these rules.

Haha. Only used it once before, to be fair. Maybe twice. The capital/non-capital text indicates something being said by someone who is read is stupid.

Blame @Ric for the site not having emojis :)
