Voted for the 'optimistic' scenario purely because of that unusual refereeing in Madrid. Rewatching the game, I've been thinking both City goals wouldn't have happened without some movements behind the scenes. In fact, ignoring the foul on Sterling and outruling Jesus' goal would've been far less scandalous than ref performances vs Pool, Schalke etc.

I would not waste a second of your time worrying about City mate. Worst scenario It might be a big pothole in the road but the journey, even after a 2 year ban, is a lot shorter than when the club was taken over in 2008.

I remember watching the game at the time thinking this is the refereeing that G14 clubs get.

Has anyone seen and detailed analysis in the press of what our defense is ? I have not why is this ? What a it because we won’t go on record with it ? Is it legal reasons ? Is it bias ? Why can I get it on here but not off alleged professionals ? Especially some of the stuff that’s on public record about who owns what etc

What if it’s upheld by CAS. Is that it or can we take it further ?

I voted for ‘other’ because CAS is an arbitration process, it doesn’t judge guilt or innocence (despite many on here talking in those terms).
It checks to see if the contractual process has been correctly followed and it may judge that the process was followed, advise corrections or throw the whole shebang out.
I suspect that the process was followed (however roughly) and I therefore expect City to lodge an appeal, against the process itself, with the European Court so that it’s legitimacy under law can be challenged.
I think that City will seek an injunction against suspension or other punishment while the appeal to the law courts proceeds.

IMO this is why Pannick is involved - I don’t think he specialises in arbitration cases, I understand that he specialises in European law and that his involvement at this juncture is a signal to all that the matter will be judged under European law once CAS have been allowed their very limited involvement.
