Lots of minority support buildings have been targeted in various states as well. The real protestors aren’t going to burn down their own support networks.

Governors and mayors would be nuts to call the federal gov't to deal with this. In America calling the cops on black people is often a death sentence and nobody wants that in their state/city.

I was being facetious and highlighting how as a nation its people are quite happy to invest in equipment that is destructive but less prepared to invest in equipment that saves lives. The great irony is that the defence of the former is that doing so protects lives.

What happened to George Floyd, tragic though it was, is as relevant to us as all the hundreds of poor black kids in Rio de Janeiro who are shot dead by police every year. You will hear the same people bemoaning the influence of America on our capitalist system, culture, foreign policy, trade etc but there they are copying America when they feel the need to whinge about something.

So if a small minority of a large group commit a crime, you believe that incredibly strong action should be taken against the entire group and they should collectively be held responsible? Do these films/games generally portray society spiralling downwards into riots and anarchy in a pandemic? If they do, is there a catalyst for these events, or do they merely follow on from the pandemic. Just trying to determine whether life in the US is imitating art.

Find it interesting that 1919, which came to be known as the Red Summer, saw a phenomenal amount of civil unrest and rioting across the country, though accounts of it tend to focus on other contributing factors and not the pandemic itself.

I don't see any problem with people protesting out of solidarity with victims in other countries, whether it's people protesting the erosion of freedoms in Hong Kong or the oppression of black people by police in South Africa in the 80s or America now.

I suspect it's largely due to the fact that they have 24 hours a day to fill, and a country where everything is already reported in English makes it easy.
