Summer Transfers

Do we have any solid information or even a hint as to who we’re interested in?

City, who maintain their talent search is worldwide rather than specifically Europe, are working on a significant number of deals this summer and the coronavirus pandemic has not halted that aspect of their recruitment.

Think the delay in the CAS ruling will be a headwind for us and enable the rags and Chelsea to gain ground over the summer. More likely to be a four way title battle next year. They could prove me wrong but I can't see Liverpool sustaining the relentless pace they set this season. When Simeone showed how to beat them it was a big moment.

Firmono and Salah have played all their careers as wingers as well, wonder who scores all the goals at liverpool?
Firmino was always a CAM. When did he play as a winger? He was one of the best players in the Bundesliga when playing as a CAM when Carlos Eduardo left for Rubin Kazan.

Fermino is a no 10 and has been the hole time at Liverpool and when in Germany.

I watched Firmino regularly while he was in Germany and he played left wing every time i watched, as for what number he plays, who cares he is still going to be part of a three man attack that pace is their strength not their ability to play football

hope your right but Simeone did not have English refs, and three laws have already been adapted to suit liverpool

Thought this one was a done deal and he's already signed the contract, according to our new resident ITK?

The CAS delay could delay a lot of our window. If we don’t find out til August, that could mess a lot off.

Aouar seems like he’s all for joining. No CB names have been mentioned yet - sadly. A wide forward to replace Sane isn’t mentioned nor a LB. One of these will need to be homegrown too due to the capacity of our squad if Zinchenko doesn’t leave.

My feeling with CAS is we get a one year suspension but it’s completely guesswork.

Some very weird transfer stories around. Find it hard to believe we're in for Aouer for example. Same with Sergi Roberto (unless we're swapping him for Cancelo). Overall I expect it to be a very quiet summer in the first team. A CB and a forward to replace Leroy will probably be it!

anything on CB front? Or even a forward for that matter?

Aouer Pep once said he liked, Roberto is a barca player so Pep gets associated, Lyon and Barca are in a fire sale so any player not top quality gets linked to us.
We do only need a Sane replacement, but if you look at our b team it has problems that need sorting this season, and with the big hitters out of the market there is going to be some very good bargains that have not been accessible to us in the past be it price or prestige reasons , next season we have some very big decisions to make and we need to be in a position where we can focus our resources,

Aouar links are coming from very reliable media sources though

I am not going to say i know better but those sources have been saying this for years, Lyon failed to make the CL and will have cash flow problems even before Convid 19 , the sources all seem to come from the Lyon side `not surprising with City`with a price tag of over £40 million, , Zakaria has grown more as a player than Aouar this season and is now the better player plus cheaper, so guess what? he gets linked to liverpool, but we need neither if we buy Camavinga, who we can afford and has the chance to be top class, guess what? Rennes do not want to sell now, they have qualified for the CL but will still need money to make a fist of it in the CL and Covid 19

Aouar replacing Silva though makes perfect sense.

Aouar is a near perfect Silva replacement. Foden is quality and needs more games but he's got real versatility across the attack. I think he's better as the midfielder slightly further forward and making charging runs into the box and he can do that out wide too, Aouar is so good at directing play and weaving moves together like Silva's done for years

Aouar replacing Silva though makes perfect sense.

If we plan on keeping Gundogan (as has been rumoured on here) and want to give Foden meaningful gametime next season, it doesn't.

Phil can only get 1000 minutes with an aging and often injured Silva in front on him. What's his situation going to be like with a £50m 22 year old in place of him?

You can run down that path , it does have it`s merits and would mean Foden plays as KDB back up instead of Gundogan but then Havertz makes a better KDB back up than Aouar does to Bernardo? for me we do not need to spend to replace Silva, Foden is the only youth player in the squad on ability and 4 CAMs is a good balance

Only one can happen this summer.
1)Keep Gundogan
2)Buy Aouar (or another midfielder)

What is best for the squad?
