George Floyd murder | Clashes between US police and protestors

And what of the other 3 officers at least complicit in George Floyd's murder. Were they not racially motivated either?

They were motivated to be complicit in the murder of a man.

I don’t know what that motive is.

It may well be proven to be racial. It may not.

The people who act offended and are in denial probably live in leafy suburbia and not only have never seen racism but have very limited contacts with Bame people. I remember years ago we had a young black guy start work and he got teased relentlessly. I volunteered to show him the ropes and train him but he didn't last too long. He was a lovely bloke and I fear little has changed with some people's attitude since then, the late 80s

My previous employer would rule out candidates CVs based off name alone. Still feel disgusted by that but I don't know what else I should have expected when the owner's sister also refused to hire women younger than her.

Thankfully, I managed to work my way into a position where I could make a real change in the business and, hopefully, a permanent one in terms of getting longer serving colleagues to question their prejudices. But the latter part I doubt.

I've just read the quotes.

Top lad.

Righto so Covid is a figment of the imagination. What a bloody stupid thing for him to come out with. 40k dead and climbing and quite possibly a second wave due to the actions taken by people who are either to thick to care or have no problem risking killing others. Sure Raheem racism is a serious issue, but guess what right now there is a much bigger problem to deal with to deal with.

Black man says what he thinks based on his experience. The horror.

Unless you listen things won’t improve. If you don’t want to listen then stop whining when it kicks off. Right now you are just part of the problem.

To suggest that it's the only disease is ridiculous he's talking out of his arse, he should take more care in what he says these protestors are putting everyone at risk through spreading a real disease.

You'll be the one whining when it kicks off bud, revolutionary in all but name.

You quite clearly did say that though. And I quote -

"He did it on camera not because he thought he would get away with it,"..."If you really believe he thought he would get away with it with a phone pointed in his face ‘because he was black’, well we shall just have to agree to disagree."

You did say "there is a fundamental issue with the way black people are treated by American police officers" and no one has argued with that, but unfortunately you said a lot of other stuff which people are taking issue with because it's ignorant or actually...wrong.

Cool.

Righto so Covid is a figment of the imagination.

Nobody has said that.

"Just like the pandemic, we want to find a solution to stop it.

"At the same time, this is what all these protesters are doing. They are trying to find a solution and a way to stop the injustice they are seeing and they are fighting for their cause.

"As long as they are doing it peacefully and safely and not hurting anybody and not breaking into any stores, they continue to protest in this peaceful way."

I'm not really sure what could be deemed as "awful" or "abnormal" about those comments.

I don’t need a unique understanding of African American culture. It really isn’t relevant.

I only know that they shared an historical connection, which could well have provided motive to kill. I don’t know the detail, in the same way that those suggesting he was murdered because he was black, also don’t know the detail. Until that detail around motive is clear, it’s probably best that nobody jumps to conclusions.

So when you wrote “This murder wasn’t race-related”, you’ve changed your mind since then?

You mean he should shut up right? You are dismissing the entire point by fixing on the choice of language. You are negating someone’s real experience because you don’t want to listen. And because you don’t want to listen the problems fester and then explode all over again.

Just fucking listen and engage. Don’t just dismiss.

Read the BBC what he said is abnormal and ridiculous.
They have taken a few words and put it as a headline ,listen to the interview,he is referring to the protesters because racism has been going on for a long time,he also says along with the pandemic everyone is looking for the answer

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news

As a black man at this moment there is nothing abnormal about what he is saying, what is it about him that blues just have to go for,he is the go to man to speak for the black players in the prem, mings was out protesting ,do you think raz wishes he could but he knows he would get battered if he did

I don’t claim to have any significant knowledge.

My opinion, based on what I have read, is that this wasn’t race related.

It is an opinion. I may well be wrong when this has come through the wash.

I am merely offering my position based on what is known currently.

It doesn’t mean that I am right.

You're not listening to what he is saying, he is quite distinctly saying that racism is the only disease we are fighting. This virus stops for no man and he's been irresponsible in the words he used, while everyone else is hibernating playing by the rules to try to stop the spread of the disease this mob are asking for a second wave.

It's abhorent.

Some people just don't get it. Some of those people have also been in this thread from the start and have been conspicuously picking information from various sources to try and put a negative spin on any of the activism taking place in the wake of Floyd's murder.

People are taking action and striking now, while the iron is hot, to push through potentially world changing social, political and ethical reform for the benefit of generations ahead.

Nobody wants to do this during a pandemic but there are only certain things we get a say in. This is one of them.

Choice of language? You mean what he actually said,? The words he used and apologised for before he used them?

Talking out of your arse is a skill you've perfected bud, you've got it off to a tee.
