I do think you’re letting your personal experience from decades ago cloud your judgement about people you’ve never met and are too young to have done it to you.

I’ll repeat, the police are very much needed in a civil society and the vast majority of UK police today are ordinary, decent people, going about their jobs the best they can.

Turning a murder in America on them isn’t reasonable.

No... because he said ‘abstain from their shops’ during a speech at the protest in Watford. Unless somebody hacked his voice as well.

I think the comment you liked from Mr Williams is telling to be honest.

I'm getting frustrated with both sides to be honest because it doesn't feel like any of this will get anywhere. It's like all this protesting is lost through thuggery and an us and them attitude. It's going to cost lives because were in a pandemic but I guess that's beside the point.

You simply dont get it or you dont want to acknowledge that his statement is neither helpful and in fact it was racist.

Im neither hopping or frothing here Bob, juts pointing out some quite astonishing hypocrisy on display.

Entirely missing the point. If you keep promoting a divided community and hate towards others how will the world ever improve? What is it protesters actually want if it’s not equality and justice?

The fact that the UK police haven't waded in to those that have caused trouble is quite telling. I think it says they can sense a real change is coming and if they push against it they will get blown over. Hopefully we'll get to see peaceful protests begin to police themselves and intervening with the violent elements before they get too crazy.

Those wind of change might not blow how you want them if we are back in lock down for another 12weeks and that 40k becomes 80k whilst the rest of Europe returns to normality leaving us as a pariah state like some kind of giant leprosy colony. Yes that is probably the worst case scenario and god willing wont happen.

On the very date war memorials were having BLM sprayed on them back in 1944 the beaches of Normandy were being taken at great human cost in order to rid the world of the Nazi's. To have any hope of success the timing had to be right, even in the final days before lauching the operation dates were changed as conditions simply were not good. Had they just gone the invasion could well have failed. If they had to wait 6 months then they would have or faced defeat, Perhaps BLM could take something from that.

Im letting it form my judgement...theres a difference.

Personal experience, familial experience, peer experience is important and valid....the resultant handling, whitewashing (pun not intended), cover up and sheer and blatant lying by police forces and government after government will forever prove they are bogus, bigoted and self serving.

Of course there are those who join "for the greater good"...and i agree there are some who are decent....unfortunately the overall organisation and its true overall purpose stinks...is flawed and needs razed to the ground. The needs to be a massive, seismic shift in its running.

These things will keep on happening....this isnt (just) about George Floyd and BLM.....something BIG needs to change....and persistent handwringing a pearl clutching after very single incident will change nothing.

Yes 2 weeks ago they were angels that deserved applause now they are collateral damage.
 
If you believe we should have statues of slave traders in anything but a museum then you need to have a long hard look in the mirror.
Violence against the police while demonstrating is unacceptable.
Sadly any kind of demonstration, major sporting or cultural event is a magnet for dickheads who are only interested in causing aggravation because that’s how they get a buzz.
