George Floyd murder | Clashes between US police and protestors

This is how protesters in the UK treat our unarmed police.

In my mind looking at this, they haven't been armed enough.

Embarrassment!

What the fuck are these clueless cunts attacking our Police for?

Get on a flight to America (if you can) and go and attack their Police. Some of our Police are a lot of things, but they have absolutely fuck all to do with the US Police.

All the gatherings of protestors and now our Police being attacked is really getting on my fucking wick.

I can’t believe how incredibly thick some people can be!

As far as I know, nobody has asked you to take responsibility for slavery. That isn't even in the ballpark of being anywhere near close to being the point of any anti-racist campaign or movement I've ever come across. You don't have to face the uncomfortable truths the impact institutional and system racism has had in this country if you don't want to, the prerogative is completely your own, but if you want to understand the impact it has had on your fellow Brits, your neighbours, children's schoolteachers, postman, co-workers etc, for several generations in this country, let alone in some foreign land like America, then facing those truths would be a necessary requirement.

We know you can't relate, in the same way I can't personally relate to the plight of Jewish people in this country and worldwide, but that doesn't mean I won't take the time to listen to them, to understand their struggles and, where possible, fight for their right to not be discriminated against. We know you can't relate on a personal level, but we want you to stand with us in this fight anyway. That's all that's being asked. That's the general goal of any anti-racist campaign.

Some fair comment there but there's plenty of people out there making slavery an issue and trying to hold innocent people responsible for something their ancestors may have been involved in 100s of years ago. The reparation movement in America is much more established than in the UK but there are some MPs over here now who use the same kind of language. I think stuff like that toxifies 'anti-racism' campaigns and makes it harder for people to get behind whereas with the George Floyd killing, I don't think anyone with a flicker of humanity would think that was right.

Do you think Biden too is racist ?

To provide context he led and sponsored the Crime Bill which enabled law enforcement to use excessive force and put people of color behind bars in hundreds of thousands for minor infractions. This bill has played a major role in building a culture over more than two decades where police have got used to using the tactics they used against George Floyd.

Now Democrats are offering him as the option to the racist according to you. No he does not shout out racist statements he has just created laws which have done the real damage.

Honestly, I get sick of explaining the point that I cannot support Biden as a "choice" if it were down to me.

Along with the excessive lies. #45 is a con man who's built his wealth around that.

Biden supposed to work for the citizen and it's the LIES that irk me!

If he owned up to the lies, I'd start looking at him more favourably for owning it!

Anyone who thinks gathering in large numbers while there’s a deadly virus knocking about has no more than two brain cells.

I also get fed up with people who think US issues are our business when they ignore 99% of the rest of the world’s race issues. There’s just no need for what’s going on in Britain at the moment. No justification for it at all.

Huge huge fines need dishing out to these people!

I can't speak for other individuals. It would be truly absurd behaviour, if I was to walk over to my neighbours' front door to demand some kind of apology for or acknowledgement of slavery from them. The topic of reparations is often looked at as a truly controversial topic, but it shouldn't be. Britain should do the right thing.

No person with a ounce of human compassion can say what happened to Mr Floyd right. The whole reparation movement is a curious thing. At what point do we start understanding that what happened hundreds of years ago is nothing to do with people of today. Do we in this country start asking for reparations from the Italian government for the occupation of Britain by the Roman empire or the Scandinavian countries for the slaves taken by the vikings. Finally, there were circa 5 to 6 million more Africans taken into slavery in the middle east and central Asia than taken to the Americas so it would be only fair countries in that region pay their share of any reparation bill. Slavery is a dark stain on humanity and is unfortunately on the rise again in failed states like Libya and also in the uk but our media turn a blind eye as generally the perpetrators are from communities that cannot criticised for reasons of cultural sensitivities.
