Definitely the right thing by walking away. 100 per cent. I meant some players are not worth walking away from. Imagine a KDB bidding war in 2019(If he was still playing for Wolfsburg) with Liverpool United Real Madrid in the mix. That's the player worth throwing a 100 mil for. And we definitely do great in the attack and Midfield department.See -B. Silva KDB Jesus or Sane
It's just the defence I want us to do better. Like a Koulibaly transfer which will make our defence world class and give space for Garcia and other youngsters to develop. And its better said than done. Dealing with Napoli is a pain in the arse but that's just another topic

Defenders are different for us just because of how difficult it is to play under Pep. You shouldn't compare United or Liverpool to what our standards are for our defenders. United suck at holding on to the ball. They counter attack. So when Maguire defends he usually has his whole team defending in front of him. Even Liverpool it's easier to play as a defender. If their CB's get pressed they just boot it to Mane and Salah and the team Gegenpress from there to put pressure on the other team.

It's difficult to play under Pep when first he wants you to play out from the back under all circumstances. You aren't allowed to boot it. You need to be aware of your positioning at all times. We play it forward and then at times the midfielders have to play it back to the CB's or keeper and have to start all over again. The CB's have to play a high line and when the ball is lost they are immediately exposed and have to defend running back to their own goal. There are a lot of good defenders that would fail in our system. Pep had Benatia at Bayern who was highly rated at the time, but after a while Pep preferred Javi Martinez and even Alaba or Kimmich as his CB's. IMO when it comes to the next CB we are being extra cautious. Even with Koulibaly there is no guarantee he'd hit the ground running. Just shows how good Laporte is BTW.

Danilo was a panic buy. The plan was to have Dani Alves (who knew Pep's system) split time with Walker for a few years then we could invest in another RB, but Alves screwed us and wen to PSG. Danilo was okay but wasn't really great at defending or attacking. He was stuck in the middle. Cancelo can still be good for us. Like many players the time is needed to adjust to the tactics.

Yes thank god I am not running our transfers because I would only be doing it when I have all the data scouting and research report but that shouldn't stop me from commenting on the team I support. And just to reiterate what I said before, the United transfers did good to their defence and midfield, they are the team that throws money at their problems a few others rely on the scouting and We combine good scouting with relevant fees to get our players. We did pretty well when we talk about forwards and midfielders but our defence - we definitely overpaid
Our scouting, as well as buys, have been iffy when it comes to defence. And I don't like the merry go around that keeps on happening with our fullbacks and yet only walker is the one which can be defined as a true success

City set their prices and stick to it. I think the only one where we probably overpaid at the time was Stones. But a young english player joining an english team? You have to pay big. Mendy looked worth it at the time. He was set to join and be this world class starter for the years to come and in 2017 when he was signed thats what we all thought. Even at 50m. Sadly it hasn't worked out and we've overpaid for the player we've now got but I think we paid a fair price for him in 2017 for what he was. Laporte? Massive success story. Probably the worlds best left footed CB. We can do better and have to this summer but Mendy looked a fine signing at the time and Stones hasn't fully worked out but its not bad. Zinny cost 1.2m, Angelino was a buy back as a last resort to guarantee enough cover. Not every signing can work out

Proper strikers (and I don’t mean big lumps, I mean anyone who can consistently get goals) seem to be at an all time low. Really struggling to think of a single striker in a top 5 league who’s scored 20 league goals 3 seasons in a row.

If he has an unbelievable season next year, and the buyout clause is still in play, we should be all over this. He’s an absolute nightmare for defenders to play against. Imagine Kev whipping in crosses to his head, or balls like in the 7-2 against Stoke.

For me he gives us everything we need and a little bit of something we lack at present even with Aguero - that physical presence in terms of height when we are struggling break teams down. He may never get to the level of Kun (btu then again who will) btu he gives us a second option to just throw the ball into the box when needed along with all his other attributes which seem pretty good. He seems a very strong all round striker.

Surely every top team would be in for him if he was avaiable (Madrid would def be in for him i reckon). I reckon Utd would throw 100m plus to get him as well and of course Bayern and the likes of Chelski - the only team that might not go for him woudl be liverpool as they dont really need him

They are difficult to find for sure. Wout Weghorst comes close. 18 with Alkmaar, 17 and 16 with Wolfsburg. He is more a target man/poacher type. Not sure if that is what we would be looking for though.

His agent will ensure its the highest bidder - at his current rate that certainly wont be us.
Expect Madrid or Barca.
Barca are broke. They have crazy amortisation + player wages and huge yearly interest payments on their head, which is more than €20m a year.

Sancho, Koulibaly and Haarland would be a nice little summer haul wouldnt it.

Wishful thinking and CAS outcome dependant but i'd take 2 out of 3... :)

Regardless, we need to go big in the next three transfer windows as on paper we are currently weaker than the start of the season.

But what sell on clause will his agent insist when he moves again?

Rinola is a cnut of the highest order, and our club will not deal with him under the present execs.

If he comes to City, not a chance he will have a sell on clause.

As a club, City are way beyond that type of bartering. That disappeared around 2010, when we started to become a team where players wanted to play for the rest of their careers; not one to be used as a stepping stone.

Completely agree, that why he won't ever sign for us, his agent would insist on a sell on clause, he does for all his clients.

Surely no top clubs would have a sell on clause though? Can't imagine Barca or Chelsea buying someone with a view to selling them on. If he improves our team we should sign him, doesn't matterr if you make a loss a few years later as long as he's scored hatfuls of goals. I reckon Haaland would be a perfect signing for us.

Not unless he changes agent.
