how the fuck would I know? He's been here 3.5 years, only he can answer that.

well Firmino's cut from the same cloth. Jesus has had a lot more chances comparatively than Mane for those chances, in fact before this weekend out of the top 20 goalscorers in the league Jesus was 3rd or 4th for number of chances despite his minutes, another 7 will only add to that. 1 goal, despite an otherwise really positive performance, sums up the problem with him. It should have been 4-0 at half-time given the chances and he should have been coming off with a hat-trick given the chances. 22 shots since the lockdown, 6 on target and 2 goals. At some point that has to start improving no matter what else he brings to the team.
He'd have plenty more if he had an average conversion rate and could take a penalty.
Jesus has 20 in 2747 minutes, Ings has 22 in 2739 minutes.
So what. One is Gabriel Jesus of City and Brazil and the other is Danny Fucking IngsHe'd have plenty more if he had an average conversion rate and could take a penalty.

Having a lot of chances is partly due to the team but partly also to his movement.
Think you are being harsh on Jesus. But that's your opinion and I respect that.
I mean, ok. Judging from what you've seen from him over the 3.5 years and how the rest of his game has/hasn't developed, would you believe he's going to improve his finishing? You've been really detailed in most of your opinions on Jesus but I don't think you've covered this, I'm just curious whether you think he's got it in him in your opinion.how the fuck would I know? And 13 assists to just 3 for Ings.
33 goals and assists now - ahead of everyone except Kevin on 34.
Fair enough, thanks for answering. I reckon he's on a similar trajectory to Sterling, in that he'll add a greater variety of things to his game over the years that'll cover any weakness up.Tbf Jesus will never be a great finisher, it's a skill that players have from a young age. Haaland, Mbappe even seemingly Greenwood all possess natural finishing instincts. We have to accept what we have with Jesus in that his overall play can be fantastic but he won't be someone we can rely on to get us goals in tight games.
Got a giggle out of me! Haha!So what. One is Gabriel Jesus of City and Brazil and the other is Danny Fucking Ings

My hope with his finishing ability personally is that his movement is so strong that he'll improve his chances by numbers as opposed to strict ability. But then again the more he starts the more different kinds of goal we might see.
Ings plays for fucking Southampton. It's astonishing he should even be close. You can bump it up with cup stats all you want, it's 12 goals and 5 assists in the big league.

It's 12 and 7 on the PL website, but you quoted the goals for all comps - so no need for the snark ;)
Ings is having a ridiculous season by his standards, but his goals+assists per 90 mins, is still well below Jesus. The MEN pointed out before this game that we score more goals when he's in the side, compared with Aguero, and that doesn't surprise me.
Thanks for the response :)Well, put it this way, his shots on target conversion rate in the league since he joined has been:
16/17 - 7/13 = 53.8%
17/18 - 13/33 = 39.4%
18/19 - 7/25 = 28%
19/20 - 12/42 = 28.5% (after tonight)
I would say he's proven he can be around 40%, which isn't top level but it's decent/quite good, and with that he'd be pushing 20 league goals a season given the increased number of chances he's getting. So he's proven he can play at that level, whether he gets back to it I can't say. Does he have the 53% from when he joined or the 57% of Aguero in him? No, I don't think so, there'd have to be a fundamental change in mentality and finishing technique to get back up to there, but if he did he'd comfortably be the best striker in the world given his attributes.
It's in his head, he's shown he can reach a decent level before and there's another 10 league goals per season I'd say in his locker if he stepped his finishing up. It doesn't have to detract from all the other good stuff he does, it's purely down to when those chances present himself, but unfortunately he's been off the pace in that regard for 2 seasons which is more than a blip.

7 then, whoop-de-fucking-doo.
