TV Series

I've just watched Fear City: New York vs The Mafia on Netflix, about how investigators and prosecutors brought down Mafia 'Commission' of the 70s and 80s. Very good watch and you realise that films like Goodfellas were actually absolutely true to life, in fact the real guys seem like caricatures of the fictional ones.

I have 45 minutes left of Shane Meadow's "The Virtues".

Quite a harrowing watch, with some moments of humour. (as expected with Meadows). Stephen Graham has to be one of the best English actors out there.

You're late to the party, but yes, a fantastic mini-series.

He was genuinely pissed for the pub bit in episode 1, and the interactions in the streets were real people, he just wore a gopro.

I'm really late, I know. Can't believe I didn't give it a go when it came out.

Fascinating about the pub scene, I thought his portrayal was brilliant and now I know why.

The actress who plays "Joseph's" sister played the nurse in This is England '88. I think she was a nurse in real life and turned to acting.

If you haven’t watched good girls on Netflix you are absolutely missing out

10/10

reminds me of breaking bad in many ways

Just finished Narcos: Mexico season 2 finally. Quality hasn't dipped one bit since the original first season. Maybe...just maybe...it's edging into painting by numbers and many of the relationships aren't particularly well explored (a la Sopranos) but the production and the cast is absolutely top class.
Hopefully Season 3 is on the cards (can't see them branching off from Mexico given that's where the scene is currently at rather than Colombia or elsewhere).
Did anyone read the 'rumours' that the DEA agent Kiki's death had CIA involvement?

You may be interested in a documentary series just been released called The Last Narc.

Former cartel insiders divulge the bone-chilling details behind the notorious murder and kidnapping of DEA Agent "Kiki" Camarena.

Heard about this last night as it happens. Def take a look. Does it skirt the CIA rumour?

I have been enjoying S2 of Brassic, it is hilarious!! Takes a few episodes to get use to the humour/vibe but when you do it's so good.

No idea. I'm not even up to date with Narcos (Never mind Mexico). Just noticed it there while browsing certain websites this morning so thought I'd give a heads-up in case you were interested and hadn't heard about it.
