General Videogame Thread

I'm still undecided about which next gen console to go for. Until three years ago I was xbox through and through but it felt a bit flat, so I bought a PS4 pro and loved all the exclusives on it.

The problem is, I think the Xbox game pass is such good value. All exclusives are on it for 10 pounds a month whereas PS exclusives are 55 each.
PS Now is amazing, I have to say. You can get a year subscription for around £35 and this month alone they've added 9 new games, including Greedfall, AO Tennis 2, Hitman 2 and Dead Cells.

Already on there are games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Watchdogs 2, Rocket League...over 900 apparently.

Personally I won't be looking at anything other than a PS5, but given the price has been leaked at £449 with a disc drive and developers are saying games will be more expensive at around £60 rrp, it probably won't be for a year or two.

Had to delete all my games yesterday for the Warzone update.
Why is it so large when they change very little?

Finally come to the conclusion its an utterly shite game. Rlease a big season update that wipes out your storage and f all changes other than a roof collapsing.

Deleted all my 4 year old daughters games like Spyro (she never plays on it, last time was probably start of lockdown) and today she had asked to play on it
Its painful isnt it. The only game i have left is fortnite and i think my son would leave home if i deleted that.

I'm really finding it difficult to like The Witcher 3. I know i'm very late to the party, but i only got back into gaming again about 6 months ago. I just don't find it interesting, just going from one place to another place to speak to someone and then fighting dragons and wolves, sounds amazing but i find it boring as fuck. I've been told something happens that makes you engrossed in it, maybe i just need to invest more time but it feels like why the fuck do i have to play so much of a game to start to like it?

I literally tweeted this last night. Struggled to get into it too.

It's a slow starter but I found I enjoyed the game more once I got to the second area of the map and was less restricted by what I could do and where I could go. There's only really one objective in White Orchard, in Velen there are numerous trails of the main story to follow and you can do them in any order.

I didn't even touch the Gwent part of the game until my 2nd playthrough.

It might just be that the game isn't for you. I have mates who have expressed the same.

Yeah, your tweet is what reminded me. But every time i mention it, people get really mad and say "you need to play more and GET TO THE PART". I'm gonna give it some more time, but if this part is shite, [Russell Peters] someone gonna get a hurt real bad[/Russell Peters].

I think it might not be tbh. I'm an impatient sum'bitch tbfh.

My main criticism of the game would be that there are too many cutscenes etc and I understand how that might be frustrating for somebody that likes things a bit more fast paced.
Talking about cutscenes, i'm playing Shadow of the Tombraider as ell, and its another game i'm finding hard. Cutscene after cutscene, but mostly because the story is all over the place, unlike the first one (and even the second one, to an extend). You often find yourself forgetting why you are doing something and what the whole story of the game even is. At the moment i find i'm just playing it to get through the game, so i can say i've completed all 3. Bit of a shit reason to play a game.

I've put nearly 300 hours into The Witcher 3 and I've still not finished it!! Yeah it's slow to start off with and there's a lot of cutscenes but the story is amazing and when the writing is as good as this I really don't mind the cutscenes. Everything you do has consequences. I believe there's 7 different endings for the game and the major questlines have a huge impact on the game.

One of the first major questlines is The Bloody Baron and it doesn't end really untill the final act( which if you ignore the side quests and just do the main quests will take around 60-70 hours) and there's five different ways it can go depending on your choices. It's that freedom of completing the game how you see fit which hooked me.

It really helps if you've read the books or played the first 2 games as I can understand how people will be completely baffled in the first few hows and the politics and characters of the game

Yeah, i've played a teeny bit of the second one but nothing much. Next time i get a game pass of the missus, i'll be giving it a go.

It's a game you really have to take your time with and treat as an interactive story which you control. It's got more plot than a game of thrones! Go on YouTube and look at the Witcher before playing the Witcher 3 to get you up to date. EDIT. just found a good video explaining the plot

I've bought and sold that game 3 times and never got further than just past the Griffin. BORING.
