Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

I expect Pep's extension to be public before PL starts in less than 4 weeks. Otherwise if we start really shit and we are behind maybe 10-12 points in league at Christmas what will make the players fight for Pep when he is about to leave anyway regardless where e finishes?

Also they would know any drop in performance is not having the same importance as new manager coming in might have complete different view on players than Pep.

While with Pep we see how he handles players he lose trust with like Ota or Stones recently.
If Ferna, Garcia, Laporte were all injured he would start Rodri and Harwood Bellis kid in CB.

I think we'd have been easily beaten.

Just like we were playing our usual set up vs. Wolves (twice), United (twice) and Arsenal when we tried to play 433 against teams playing with Lyon's set up and tactics.

I made that comparison with Wolves the day after the match. Its clear we have a weakness against sides adopting a low block and adopting a fast counter. Playing sides like Madrid, even if they are better than Lyon, are much easier to face than those that play on the break. We will never know if playing the usual side would have been win the match but to me it explains the team selection even if I think on balance it never worked.

Remember Heynckes was announced to go and went to win the treble.
Maybe players get more heated if they know it's his last year

Either the players are fully behind him and want to give him a big send off or it would be one huge shit show. If thats the case hopefully its the former

Pep out. Poch in.
I am worried we might lose out on Poch.

If Pep really has decided he is going in 12 months regardless.

And Pochetinho is available now.He likely wont be then,....

I thought he did a decent job at Spurs. The Wheels only really come off when Levy undermined him,and would not spend.

Look at Spurs now,out of the Champions league being managed by an old Dinosaur with a Blue rinse.

Not arsed if we lose out on Poch. He fluffed up Spurs' golden opportunity in winning the league in 2016 and gifted it to Leicester and finished 3rd. PSG wouldn't be a bad club for him though.

Whilst I’d like to agree one huge red flag is him not giving a fuck about domestic cups. That is simply not acceptable

Will Tuchel reaching CL final with PSG have any effect on the proceeding of the club. Whether posters here think it is important or not, City management and Pep do take the CL very seriously( Hence the overthinking). PSG may still not win it but it would hurt the ego of City if PSG wins it before us and also Pep's. I think he still has some unfinished business in CL and winning it with City who have not won it before would really get that CL genie out of his back.

It backfired when Pellers announced beforehand that he was leaving

Did it? we were struggling well before he announced it.

We reached the semi of CL (which folk are quick to remind us when pooping on pep) After he announced it!

What's with people demanding a decision right now?

I'm of the mind that both the club and Pep are better off seeing what's happening in January. You'd like to think he'll turn things around from last season but there are no guarantees.

The last thing we'll want is two more years of that or a situation where Pep feels the need to resign for the first time in his career. It will leave a sour taste in the mouth for all those involved.

No i specifically remember our performance dipped badly after the announcement. It was being made out, our players would be motivated and results would pick up. Nothing of that sort happened.

The CL semi final while our best result so far, we all know how the "Performance" was.

Rammy Blue was being sarcastic and Poch has won the sweet sum of fuck all so his decent job at Spurs compared to the record breaking job Pep has done with us really is chalk and cheese.

For me we keep Pep as long as possible, if it's just for one more year then so be it, if its longer even better.

Our owners will pick our next manager when the time comes, so it doesnt matter what we think. Personally as long as it's not a big Sam, Mourinho type I'm happy

It will never be a big Sam/Mourinho type, or even a Simeone, as long as the Barca-Lite boys are in the boardroom. They will continue to tell the owner to appoint a manager based on the style of football they adopt.
