What face do we have to save. This whole farce gets more Messi by the day.
We should give this a deadline of Wednesday 6pm.
If he isn't in Manchester by then, pull the plug and save face.
@MillsyTheMosher has returned to the thread with an apology to the forum.
I'm hopeful that behind all the posturing and media guesswork there is actually an adult debate going on between city, messi and barca to find as close as possible to a win-win for all concerned. Messi coming here and them getting a little bit more than they are strictly / legally entitled to in order to buy Southampton players off Liverpool. That is true, but the socio (and, really, general public) backlash would likely see Tebas and Bartomeu run out of Spain, so they’ll be carefully considering their options.
Nope. A deadline is a deadline. Show no weakness. 6.10 should the max. What about if he can make it for 6.15?
Classless to put it mildly.Barca are emabrassing themselves. They have agreed to have that clause in his contract, but is not willing to carry it through after all he’s done for them
Is that about the 15th time you've said that in the last 2 days? :)IT'S HAPPENING!!!!!
Combine your name with your comment. Leeky source spill the fucking beans .source
Meh!!Apologies all. I misunderstood what Veronica has tweeted.
Messi potentially leaving Barcelona has made it to National Public Radio in the US.
To put it simply, NPR is generally more “high brow” radio and so pure sport news, unrelated to other events or implications like protests or economic changes, is rarely discussed in the course of normal broadcast. The fact that there was even a minute devoted to this in their news segment is another example of how Messi transcends merely the sport world in to general interest.
It is evidence of why him coming to us would be an unprecedented commercial opportunity (bigger even than many currently believe). This is more consequential than Robinho signing for us (which was seismic at the time), Ronaldo going to RM or later Juve, or Kaka going to RM. It may even be on par with Maguire being arrested in Greece.
People around the world that generally don’t care about football will take note and that will have substantial commercial implications.
And Barca are fully aware of this, which is why they will fight to the death to optimise any outcome that sees him leave, so no one should be surprised by their posturing or combative stance, or the conflicting information coming out of many different reputable (or less-reputable) outlets, or the fact that the entire affair is going to drag out a bit.
What can I say, always the realist. ;-)That was going greta until your last paragraph Seb.

Thanks for sharing Billy. Keep 'em coming.Pep arrived in Barcelona last night. Officially it will be for “holidays” but he’ll meet Messi over the weekend.
Deadline is octoberMaybe its not a bad idea to crank the pressure up by setting a deadline for this.
To scare both Messi's entourage and Barca people.
also tell them it has to be a free transfer nothing or we give two players Garcia and Scott Carson maximum.
imo, the transfer fee should be anywhere between 0 and 100 million euros - the same amount Ronaldo was sold to Juventus for..I wouldn’t be surprised to see something like £150m in the end.
Just kidding man this messi is messing my head and I’m running out of moisturized kleenex. My bad typo
Court seems like the best route.
