All of these before Messi stepped foot in Barcelona. Perhaps you are making the same mistake that Messi is. No one player is bigger than the club.

Messi will sign for city, but let it be known that anything short of a Champions League will be a utter failure.

Bringing Messi in to the tune of 50 million euro a season net pay will create a massive gap in the salary structure of any team.

As a Barcelona fan I can tell you that if you are looking or a leader, he ain’t it. He will no doubt bring you glorious evenings of soccer at the Etihad. I will be right there to wish the team well, but you gotta ask yourself if it’s worth bringing a guy who’s displaying the worst of examples of leadership and gratitude to a club that made him the person he is today.

This is confusing, does he not simply have a contract *without a release clause* for the last season, then? I don't see how that means he gets to just leave for free.
 
Yeah...a transfer fee worth 250m won't happen. if he was 25, then sure. But it would be insane considering Messi can sign a pre-contract with us in 4 months. And we surely wouldn't have any money left to strengthen our weaknesses.
 
Some top notch co tract detail leaking here by someone in Messi/City’s camp.. love it, well played whoever it is. All these snippets today tell Barça they need to walk away. Also by sacking the law firm who sorted it, doesn’t that then give them more incentive to help Messi as a final fuck you to the Barça board?

Bet the law firm ain't to happy apparently is customary that the Barca players use theirs services when signing new contracts and stuff, but when now when Messi went to them they got sacked.
