If I remember tolmie said his wages at City would be on par with KDB and Sterlings new deals, so my guess 350 k, 18 mill / year. presuming that’s over the 5 years inc NYC years. Thats 90 mill. He reckoned 2% of cfg was worth 180 mill. So total £270 mill. 54 million / year. Not sure how the rest is made up, if there is more, unless it’s personal sponsorships and image rights.

Yep Castle like they all do have added the whole package and not how it’s all broke down.

Whilst I like the fact that City are prepared to be innovative in order to secure the services of the world's best player I do wonder about some possible consequences of offering such a deal.

What happens if we are in for other players in the future and their agents push for a similar arrangement.

Also how do the De Bruynes, the Sterlings and the rest feel about another player getting a share of the CFG?
When they can whip out a record number of Ballon d'Ors, I'm sure the club will think about it.

Agents ? Tell them to get to fuck. See if Utd offer the same.

KDB & Sterling know the score.

1% of 4.8 billion valuation would only net 48million. He’d probably get somewhere around 750k a week? There’s no way we give him like 5% of the CFG.
If it’s a share option with shares vesting annually (20% each year) with an annual option to sell & ultimate exit obligation to sell ‘em back to CFG at the agreed pricing basis giving Messi the ‘proper value’ then this is such a smart way.

The shares can be a different class of share too ... no voting rights etc but even if not a 5% shareholding in a private company is pretty much worthless especially if CFG retain pre-emption rights which they will.

Trust me I’m a recovering accountant.

I thought his slice of equity would be undervalued at the time he gets it, and he gets rewarded immensely for jumping on the CFG bandwagon 5-10 years down the line.

Beckham's 2007 MLS contract that let him have an expansion team for $25 million was only a $5 million discount on the price paid that year for the Seattle Sounders to be set up.

But by the time he cashed in that chip 10 years later to form Inter Miami, an expansion slot was worth $400 million. He essentially got a $375 million discount.

Being paid in equity would be covered by FFP rules, which are so broad they basically cover any form of payment. And I think UEFA have already covered their tails with CFG because they rejected City's attempt to farm out a lot of City staff to CFG in previous years' accounts.

Payables are all forms of consideration due in respect of employees as a result of contractual or legal obligations, including wages, salaries, image rights payments, bonuses and other benefits. Amounts payable to people who, for various reasons, are no longer employed by the applicant fall within the scope of this criterion and must be settled within the period stipulated in the contract and/or defined by law, regardless of how such payables are accounted for in the financial statements.

I was assuming Messi is going to get a slice of CFG equity that is not hugely valuable. That is the amount that would go into the books, but then in 10 years time it's worth 3 or 4x as much, and he's been rewarded massively.

haha, sadly as a nation that led the way in jet aviation in the 50s and 60s we no longer seem able to make our own planes. we contribute engines etc but cant make our own planes.

Apart from the tempest stealth or phenom jet ? Plus our aerospace industry is the second largest in the world I think - it’s actually not too shabby.....

Here's a list of all the sponsors who renegotiated their deals when Messi signed.
Here's a list of new sponsors who signed on over the course of Messi's time at City.
Here's the number of Messi shirts sold worldwide, and the social media impact numbers for Messi-related content.

Come back when your client manages 50% of that, and we'll talk.

What angers me most is that the kid had the audacity to say "i will not renew" and talking like its an achievement. WFT!
And i have one year and hope to go back, off you pop you arrogant shit, he is nineteen and thinks he can say to pep i am not going to renew and still get to stay here, disappointed in his comments today , thinks he can grace us with his presence so he can play with messi for a season, fuck off

your knowledge is greater than mine. I knew we still had a decent sized aviation aerospace industry but didnt know it was that big.

Might be that he is so sure of his ability he want to renew after another season bossing it in the first team and being declared a defensive genius ?

Nah fuck him

You do not have to be Duncan Castles to play the Messi game.
Mrs asa, and myself had a game during the transfer show on Sky.

Choose a source, but make sure it is quite bland and definitely no names(Barcelona will do ). Next you choose an astronomical figure, say 623.5., don't worry if it is euros or pounds at this stage. Choose a contract length, 4, 5 or 6, throw in a bit of time in the USA, as he will of course learnted de English by then.
A transfer fee is optional, but add a few idiosyncratics, like, he must take penalties, wear a blue beard, change the away kit to a colour of his choice.
Then all you do is tweet it. We couldn't do that bit as we don't tweet.

Mrs Asa, has him living in Blackley, I chose Miles platting, as it is up and coming. We also think he will have a special apartment built within the ground, and Jamie Oliver will be his personal chef, with food delivered by Marcus Rashford.

Don't worry about future deals.
As soon as Uefa gets wind of this loophole (if it works), it will be firmly closed...

who’s that?

If he didn't can we all pretend he did to help with some peoples sense of righteous indignation?
Eric Garcia: "I'm here [Spain national team] because of #ManCity and the confidence they gave me. It has been a very good year although it did not end in the #UCL as we expected."

Eric Garcia: "Barça? I told #ManCity that I was not renewing, but I still have one season left with them and I hope to return." [via
