I'm no lawyer, but no lawyer would put in a contract 'end of season', surely. These things would be set in stone, wouldn't they??

It’s not a particularly good situation for Bartomeu, and in an ideal world it would see him resign, but Fútbol Club Barcelona is far removed from an ideal world, as evidenced by the last few weeks.

It may help expedite proceedings with Messi, though, only time will tell.

They might because in a multi year contract you’d have to put all the dates in for say 2017, 2018, 2019 etc. So easier just to with a statement like the end of the season because with the CL the season gets a bit extended in any case.
