Eric Garcia to Barcelona

There's quite a lot of value to keeping him. Firstly, Pep thinks he's better than Stones and (opinions on here since he asked to leave being irrelevant) it's good to keep players the managers like. Especially when that manager is Pep.

Secondly, what are the odds he changes his mind again and signs a new deal? 50/50? 2/1? 4/1? There's an implied value there. If there's a 50/50 chance you can get a €50m CB prospect to sign a new deal if he stays around, you don't sell him off for €10-15m.

The problem with keeping him, is if Pep plays him. Then we have to go through Pep's first season, again.

Pep rates Garcia above Stones and Garcia himself a few weeks ago said he has one more year at the club. I hope he stays. Excellent 4th choice. Cash in on Stones.
He said that because that time there was a possibility of messi coming to city and now that deal is off.

Yes, we all know you don't rate him, you've made that clear.

Pep does, so it's not going to be the same as 16/17, not to mention he's not going to be better than 3rd choice.

MD claiming City value him at 25M - no chance this happens at that fee. Increasingly of the belief Barca will have to wait until June to get him for free as I struggle to see Txiki negotiating it down to facilitate a move sooner considering the Messi saga

I can see him being valued at €20m as part of the Messi deal, after all we got €25m for Brahim with 6 months left on his deal and he hasn't played for Spain senior team.

Why did he buy Ake and is chasing Kk?

It would not surprise me if Pep is playing games with Barca re Garcia.

The lad is not good enough to start so I can’t see what all the fuss is about. Pep has got a few things wrong recently in the defence department, notable playing Fern at cb all season when it was clear to everyone that we lost a great dm due to age and we got an ok cb in return.

Last season was Garcia’s chance to cement his place and he only played 3-4 games.

More suited to a defensive mid in my opinion.
I would think the club want Otto out and probably Stones , if we get all out transfer targets.

Not sure why he would change his mind. Almost certain Barca have tapped him up, and IF they have , I can understand the reason why he wants to leave.

Pep, picked him over John Stones and Otto on numerous occasions, says everything you need to know.

I agree that it was a weird decision to play him in the Lyon game after saying he would not renew but clearly Pep had trust in him more than the others.

Yeah why not. But buying three new CBs in one window with only Laporte familiar to our tactics could be pushing things a bit too hard ;)
Otto, Stones hardly played last season, and Garcia a handful of games.

Ake is very experienced at this level and seems an intelligent guy, he will soon be up to speed with pep.

Koubaily is highly experienced, will fit in quickly.

Ok fair enough but it still doesn’t make him good enough, best of a bad bunch maybe.

We need speed and power at the back with the high line unfortunately Garcia does not posses either. Maybe I am doing him disservice as he is only 19 and if he does turn into a top cb good for him.

He is walking away from the challenge at city so maybe mentally he is not strong enough either.

He's 19, incredible to be playing matches for us in such a vital and difficult position as CB.

Give the guy a break.

We are weak in the CB area, that's no secret, but just because he wants to go back home to his club, don't knock the guy.

Weak mentality? Please, he wants to go to Barca, that's not a sign of weakness, but confidence in his own abilities.
