Women's Team 2020/21

Very few women seem to have stuck with one team. The YPotY, Lauren Hemp, started at Norwich, went to Bristol and then us. A good number seem to have been around and done a couple of seasons here and there. Steph H won the cup with The Arse, moved to us and then won the cup with us! I think the main reason that the women's game doesn't contain the same hatred as the men's is that the tv, press, web coverage doesn't have the likes of Rags 'n Dipper ex-pros banging their own gobshite opinions.

Part of it is they don't seem to get long term contacts, and they tend to leave at the end of their contracts with no money in transfers so there isn't the incentive for the clubs to tie them down.

And had CFC or the Arse had the chances we've just spurned they'd be 4-0 to the good. Every goalie seems to get their shite together when they come to The Academy. Our season will revolve around the finishing. Two fortuitous dropped bollox last week for the goals but decent chances this half have not been tucked away. Come on, City! Turn possession into goals.

I expected Jill Scott to just nod that header into the virtually empty net, despite the keeper coming out!

Stanway far too greedy on two or three occasions taking on really tough shots when teammates were better placed. Thought Brighton's players worked harder which made up for the difference in class. Not sure what our game plan is? Bad miss from Scott but at home we should be creating a lot more chances. Need Lavelle in this team to drive forward quicker. Our midfield seem content to play it back allowing teams to get set defensively - presume that is a coach instruction.

Georgia Stanway missed loads in the first game and missed our best chances in this game. Wasteful in possession as well.

She seems the golden girl in the squad but she needs dropping.

Very laboured build-up play today and on the odd occasions the final ball was good, the finishing wasn't.

She seemed to either shoot from ridiculous angles or pass it backwards. Wasn't just her though, everything was negative for 80 mins. When everything constantly goes back to the Cbs your always gonna struggle to break down a team.

Last time I was able to watch them live the finishing was abysmal, it sounds like nothing has changed.

It hasn't. That performance can only be described as poor. There seems to be a complete lack of positive decision making when we approach the opposition area. The finishing today was pretty grim even though Alistair was trying to make out the goalie played out of her jersey. And there were two or three occasions where it looked as thought the Colt 45 was out, loaded and ready for a shot at our own foot. The game was very similar to too many last season where we are faced with an opposition whose only ambition is to maintain a presence in the league, and who have a plethora of athletes in the team who can press for 99 mins. The general outfield play is slow, ponderous and plays into the hands of a team who are reasonably organised and will run all day. The finishing is a major concern. We had several good chances, most of which should have been put away. There was a header from Beckie with the only the goalie to beat, who had rushed out and she doesn't get over it and it's a yard over the bar. Pretty much summed up the afternoon!

Absolutely shocking not improved at all in the last couple of weeks, if anything we looked worst then we did last week. Some of the passing was shocking ie like a one yard pass being misplaced , also the control of some of the players, look like it they never played football before. The trouble is we know this team is a lot better then they are showing. They don't look a shadow of the team that played last season and many it's the same players !

Title gone. For all the resources on the pitch why can't we lead the way and get them a top quality management and coaching team, don't care if it costs just put it through the CFG books.

Surely that was White as she rolled the ball wide using her left foot when a right-footed effort would have curled into the bottom corner with the keeper hopelessly out of position in relation to her goal?
