I think he's an absolutely fantastic player. I think, if we had a proper defence, we could play Jesus with another striker, in most games & get an extra 10-20 goals by doing it. Our inability to defend if we lose possession, makes that dangerous at the moment.
The only slight drawback with Jesus is that he is not able to lead a line like Dzeko or Sergio but I think I prefer him now over Kun. Kun is too static and easy to mark.

What is a little unknown is whether Ake can play on the right of Laporte. If he can then we are stronger than last season which is something.

I want to continue winning titles, dominating the Premier league.

Like it or not the scousers have got together a great side and the others are starting to rebuild, especially Chelsea, we are stagnating and in many ways going backwards.

We used to get our transfer business done early, get the players settled and ready before the start of the season

We now spend all summer negotiating for our major targets and the negotiations fail, why is that? what's the change?

Nothing to do with wanting shiny new things, it's wanting to keep improving, to keep winning.

And looking at our manager in his first press conference of the season, does not fill anyone with confidence!
Completely agree

I like when Sergio is in a game when it’s tight in the middle he will come out wide. It’s a nightmare to defend as the defender has to go out with him which creates the extra space. If you don’t he picks the ball up and gets a shot off.

He's big, fast, can tackle, head the ball & pass it.

He can still do all of that & likely will be able to, for years to come.

Doesn't mean it's a guarantee he does it for City though. But he certainly can do it, irrespective about the so called 'disaster' he's had last season. All our cbs, have that 'disaster' every week, even when we win, just slower.

Ah thanks just didn’t want another injury prone player if we actually him and pay big money for him

Have hardly seen KK play is he really all that? Is he injury prone because getting an injury at his age he be out for a bit.

Think we were interested made the offer for quoted ridiculous fee and moved on its Napoli who keep reporting all the rubbish in the media because bottom line they are skint and desperate for big money.

Maybe we make another offer or we moved on to a new Target bottom line most people don’t know what’s happening.
KK was up there with Kompany at his best and VVD imo. One of the best defenders in Europe but I do think at 29 that there might be question marks over his phsyicality which is the heart of his game. He used to completely physically dominate the opposing centre-forward. I've never seen a defender defend so well as he did against Salah but his age is a problem. However we have the entire football world to review. Surely we should have identified a long list of central defensive targets and worked our way down the list.

The post was far from over the top.

I may get hammered for this but WTF, I thought the attitude of our manager yesterday was appalling. I understand he hate's the press side of things but, that was the first time he has spoken this season, he is not only talking to the press, he is talking to the supporters of this club.

He looked pissed off, angry, uninterested and doing everyone a favour with his presence.

Not a good sign in my book!
Have you thought that maybe City have let Pep down? Kompany retired a season early. We haven't replaced him.

Have we let him down?

We appointed a caretaker manager Pellegrini while we waited for his presence.

We signed KDB at his request.

We got rid of a legend Hart as goalkeeper , spent big on Bravo, a failure, did the club question? No , they went and bought Ederson.

We completely rebuilt our defence after the first season at his request.

We have paid him 13 MILLION pounds a season

He has the finest training facilities in the world to work in.

He asked for a new medical team, he got it.

The club have backed this man to the maximum, now it's time to show some loyalty to the club.

Kompany was finished, he had been for a long time, it was mental strength and incredible courage that made him play that incredible part in the formidables season.

If we've identified Kounde as being good enough then we should sign him.

I don't understand why people are saying that about KK though tbh.

He's 29 not 34. At 34, he'll still be faster & better in the air than Garcia will be, at 25. If he becomes injury prone then that's different. But if Vinny wasn't a sick note, he'd be still at City, playing v Wolves & better than whoever plays there on Monday.

This window has been an absolute disaster!

last season we were 18 points off liverpool, knocked Out of the champions league by lyon, beaten but arsenal in the FA cup...

since then we have lost david silva and Leroy sane and signed two players that let’s be honest will do the job but are not going to be world beaters by any stretch of the imagination!

we still have otamendi and stones at the club and have really messed up the signing of koulibaly due to personal pride issues!

Liverpool have strengthened massively with the single signing of Thiago!

pep will be leaving next summer and we are going to be in an even more dyer situation than we are now
Please fully explain the details (and how you know) the KK signing was lost due to personal pride issues.

Sane hardly played, so anyone playing is an improvement in that respect.

We have had the best years from Merlin, but tbh, last season was not his best, and we imo, are better in that position.

Very few world beating teams (if any) were able to maintain 3 years in a row playing sublime football in the most competitive of leagues.

We still are a major force in the PL and I think quite a few will be pleasantly surprised by what we achieve this season.

Look at how fast Spurs hve just done those last two deals - they were barely in the media really and then suddenly they had them done.......

We have 2 weeks left so there is plenty of time......

Lots of the background work will be done already even on the plan B's - we are just waiting to see if we can get the Plan A's done - and if not I tihnk we will then see the club move very fast to secure the plan B's

e.g Koulibaly is probably the plan A but we have been linked with various other centre halves as well - if we decide not t deal with ADL and his meglomaniac ways then we will move quickly for plan B - the work for which will have already been done.

The fact you question why we used to sign players early in the window and no longer don't, wanting to know what has change simply highlights your ignorance surrounding transfers.

I feel the post is just over the top.

Pep will leave

The transfer window has been a disaster!

Sane and Silva have left

Yes improvements would be welcomed but us and Liverpool are comfortably still have the best squads in the league and it'll be between us and them again.

People need to stop getting hysterical
Completely agree about people going over the top, Things arent as bad as people are making out.
I do think we will struggle to finish ahead of Liverpool but then again that could change if we bring in a top centre back. Personally I think that could decide us finishing 1st or 2nd.

Yeah I agree with the more apprehensive people here. The fact that we are going into our first game against a side we've been struggling against without a RCB (which has been our main target) is concerning. It should've been our first concern. That position has cost us 2 trophies. The striker issue is also there, but I think we are good at getting the goals when we are sturdy at the back.
"that position has cost us two trophies", what a stupid comment

100%.

I’m sure they will get a right Centre back in but if they don’t get a top goal scorer in then unpopular opinion but we can forget the league and could struggle for 2nd place. No doubt get lots of shit for saying that but anyone who thinks it’s OTT come back at the end of the season.

This had to be a big summer with 2-3 players who go straight in and make the difference. Ake is top cover and improves the squad, Torres has lots of potential. But if the right Centre back is all we do to immediately improve the first 11 then it’s been a disaster of a transfer window for the 2nd summer running.
