Running thread

Struggled to get under an hour for 10k for ages, had that coffee before running you guys recommended and did 56.21 a month ago. Not been able to train as well since as had some family stuff going on that's now ok. Did a couple of 4/5k's, and an 8k over the last two weeks before hitting another 10k this weekend. Coffee again: 56:58.. I know it's likely I've given my body much needed rest and done more work on speed from the smaller runs, but I'm just going to say coffee is the reason :P Cheers all.

Finished in 6:41. Slowest half marathon I’ve ever ran in 2:11 but was absolutely fucked after the bike ride as it was windy as fuck, and as for the lake... it was like swimming in the arctic circle!!!
Fantastic achievement. I wouldn’t beat yourself up over the HM time. You don’t swim and ride before a HM race, so your time is bound to be different.

Anyone have any experiences of running in Nike pegasus trainers or the difference between say 35/36/37 etc?

Bought a pair of oncloud (swiss trainers) but not great on any kind of trails, paths due to the trainers tread. Everyone I know swears by the Pegasus so thought I might give them
a go.

Thanks mate, was more disappointed that ride took so much out of me, was incredibly windy in sections and turned into a real drag which then added to the time on the run.
Need to learn from a few little errors before attempting next year’s lakesman which is the full distance Ironman (twice what I’ve just done!!).

When do you sleep mate?!!

35's were my first Pegasus and absolutely ace. 37's have better sole (air under arch bit) but are narrower, so I bought a wide fit and they are fantastic. Avoid 36's they were just narrower 35's from what I've read.

Nike do a major release every odd number, and a minor tweak every even number. So as 37 has just come out. No brainer. Had my 35's for 2 years so went to 37's, will probably have these for 1.5 years as I'm running more, then will try and time it for 39's.

Pegasus are not the best trainer for serious runners but I think they are the best all-rounder for people like me that run twice a week for my own benefit.

anyone used bath salts for their recovery after running?

Keen to get peoples thought's
Yes I try them everynow and again, think the trick is to get the bath melting point hot, drink loads of water whilst sweating out the toxins etc and then get a freezing cold shower straight after.
Maybe the cold shower bit you can miss, but I would recommend it, Ive been on the cold showers before and after runs for a while now and they seem to help

Thanks that is really great info. I bought a pair of 37s. Felt really good on and cannot wait to go out for a run now.

I have a box of the epsom salts for when the legs are really sore but it's not a regular thing. Just got some for that bad week we all have at some point. Foam rolling and stretches beats any other. I've recently stopped the run ending at the house. Stop a mile away, walk half a mile then jog
